Sunday night, July 31 will be the biggest event of the year for the Old Bradford Speedway as the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series makes their first visit to the tight little quarter mile since 2012.  This will be new owner, Norm Asel’s biggest event under his new ownership of Bradford as the ULMS Late Models compete in a 40 lap event for $2500 to win.

“This has been one of the biggest events talked about in our region since the show was announced in January, stated ULMS Series owner, Chris Zuver.”  “Bradford has always has had one of the nicest surfaces in the region and the tight racing has always provided the fans some exciting events over the years.”   Greg Oakes picked up his biggest win of his career at Bradford in the last super late model event in 2012, which saw a star field of drivers compete in it.  John Lobb won the previous super late model event held at Bradford in 2007 be holding off David Scott and Ed Connor.

This year’s event should be no different as series point leader, Dave Hess Jr of Waterford, PA won at Bradford in 2012 in the open Emod division.  John Volpe has one win on the year with the series and sits second in points has never seen Bradford.  Oakes sits third in the series point chase without a win on the year and no doubt looking to repeat at Bradford and put himself right back into the point chase.   “The unique thing about Bradford is you don’t have to have the biggest horsepower to win but driver ability and good set up will make up a lot horsepower and there may be new players involved that the fans would never expect, stated Zuver.”   One driver who has many laps on Bradford this year alone is Damien Bidwell of Eldred.  He will be competing by driving the second team car out of Greg Oakes racing team and Bidwell already has a top five in limited open late model competition he has competed in.   Zuver continued, “I think a driver such as Damien Bidwell, who has a ton of laps on Bradford over the years, if he pulled the upset win off, Norm Asel may have to buy new grandstands as I believe the fans would tear the place apart in jubilation. “

Race fans are reminded they may want to get there early as the biggest crowd in years is expected to be on hand.  Also joining the ULMS Late Models will be Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks and Kids Class Mini Stocks. Racing will start at 6pm.  Pits open at 3:30pm with Grandstands opening at 4pm.  All pit passes will be  $30 with Adult Grand Stand $15, Children  ages 10-16 $10, All kids under 10 will be admitted free and the Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Children) will be $40.

ULMS Late Model teams are reminded that Old Bradford Speedway has no electronic scoring loop, this will be the one and only event of the year that will not be a time trialed event and the Passing Point system will be used as stated per ULMS series rules.    Entry Fee will be $30.
