Mechanicsburg – Williams Grove Speedway will try again to get its first night race of the season in the books coming up this Friday, March 29 at 730PM when it hosts the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars and the Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series for the first time..

The ULMS Late Models show was originally slated for March 22 but was lost to weather so the super lates along with the ULMS touring stars will return to Williams Grove for another try on Friday. Gates will open at 5:30.

Adult general admission for the March 29 ULMS Late Models and sprint car show is set at $18 with youth ages 13-20 admitted for just $10. Kids ages 12 and under are always admitted for FREE at Williams Grove Speedway

Just like last week, a stout field of super late models is expected to be in action on Friday night as the season is young and drivers and teams are anxious to get that first race of the season in the books. The ULMS series opened their season with  two events at Port Royal Speedway and saw 48 different race teams from five states compete.

Jason Covert is the most recent driver to claim a late model main at the track, dating to last June.  He also won the season opener for the ULMS Late Models last Saturday at Port Royal and finds himself tied with second in points with Dylan Yoder and one three points behind point leader Mike Norris.

Among those expected to be in the field are ULMS travelers Max Blair, Centerville, PA; Mike Wonderling, Wellsville, NY.; Mike Pegher, Cranberry Twp, PA.; Michael Lake, Uniontown; John Weaver, Corsica, PA; and Al Brewer, Belfast, NY.  Norris, Covert, Yoder, Rick Eckert, Mason Zeigler, Kyle Lee and Gregg Satterlee are also expected to be on hand.

ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place, which includes hot laps, time trials, 8 lap qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. If there are 4 heats or less, the top 2 heat finishers will redraw for their feature starting positions, otherwise, heat winner only will redraw (5 or 6 heats). The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners. All late model teams must present their cars along with safety equipment (helmet and Hans device if they were not at Port Royal last weekend) at pre-race safety and car inspection. Williams Grove Speedway utilizes the AMB transponders for scoring and timing. Limited transponder rentals are available at both facilities. Raceivers are mandatory and frequency of 454.000.

ULMS tech opens at 5:30pm and closes at 6:30pm. No cars will be allowed on the track before completing tech. ULMS Driver meeting will be at 6:30pm at the ULMS Command Center, then ULMS hot laps at 6:50pm, followed by sprint hot laps and ULMS qualifying time trials (3 or 4 cars at a time).
