The Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series has been off and running the past month with four ULMS South Region events and finally the ULMS North Region kicks off their 2021 campaign with season opening events for Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio and McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pennsylvania on Saturday April 24 and Sunday April 25 for a pair of $3000 to win events.

The ULMS Late Models visit Sharon Speedway for the first time since May 2015, when Max Blair picked up his very first career ULMS win and since then he has won three straight championships and has 30 series wins. Blair is currently the ULMS South Region point leader and will no doubt be the favorite to win the ULMS North Region championship in hopes for the $25,000 ULMS National Title at the conclusion of the 2021 #milliondollartour.

Past ULMS winners at Sharon Speedway have been Davey Johnson, Mike Knight, Boom Briggs and Max Blair. With this being the first sanctioned event in the northern region a good quality field of cars are expected to be on hand at Sharon Speedway which only hosts the super late models a few times per year. Joining the ULMS Late Models will be the UMP Modifieds, Econo Mods and Pro Stocks.

Pits open at 4pm on Saturday at Sharon Speedway with grandstands opening at 5pm. Adult grandstand admission is $15 with Pit Passes being $35 each. ULMS tech and registration will open at 4pm and end at 615pm, which will be the same time as ULMS Driver meeting at the ULMS Command Center. Completed order of events will be announced at a later date.

The very next night, the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series will “Return Home” to McKean County Raceway for the first time since 2018, when MCR last operated. The new promotional team of Joel Smith and Ken Leet kicks off their 2021 campaign with the annual Jim and Mike Duffy Memorial event for the ULMS Late Models.

McKean Co has been the “home” track for the series for majority of its 20 plus years of operating with sanctioning every Fall Classic event held at the 1/3 mile oval. The ULMS winners list at MCR have all the top regional names of current and past on it.

Joining the ULMS Late Models at McKean Co will be the RUSH Touring Late Models, RUSH Pro Mods, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks and Kids Mini Stock divisions. Race time is 6 pm at MCR. Both Sharon and MCR ULMS events will see a complete ULMS program of hot laps, Integra Shocks time trials, qualifying heats, consolation event(s), Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble and the 30 lap main event.

Sharon Speedway utilizes the MYLAPS/AMB transponder system for all timing and scoring and MCR will be announcing in the near future what scoring system they will be using for timing and scoring. Pit Gates open at 1pm on Sunday for McKean with pit passes at $35, grandstands open at 3pm with adult admission being $16 and seniors and kids being admitted at 12pm. ULMS Driver Meeting will be at 5 pm at the ULMS Command Center followed by hot laps and Integra Shocks Qualifying. A full running order will be announced as race day gets closer.

Race fans can expect a great field of cars on hand for both facilities as it is the first major dirt late model event in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio region. Expected to join Blair at the Sharon and McKean events are father and son duo, Wyatt and David Scott, Greg Oakes, past champions, Jared Miley and Dave Hess Jr., Damien Bidwell, Bob Dorman, Bump Hedman, Jason Dobson, Matt Lux, Mike and Jeremy Wonderling, Doug Eck, Alex Ferree along with 2021 ULMS North Region Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year contenders, Ryan Scott, Deshawn Gingerich, Cody Egner and Zach Wiech will also be in attendance.
