Friday night will see the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model teams head to south central New York to the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee NY for the second year in a row. A rare showing of super late model support to the hotbed of dirt modified country will give the open wheel fans a chance to see the northeast regions top dirt late model teams compete on neutral ground. Outlaw Speedway has hosted a few super late model events over the years and last years ULMS event was dominated by the Wizard Dave Hess Jr.
The 30 lap main event will pay $3566 to the winner of the Steve Kent Memorial Summer Nationals. Current series point leader, Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, PA will be on hand at Outlaw. This will be the first ever visit for the 2015 series champion to the dirt track in the Finger Lakes. He will be joined by Milton, PA driver Dave Stamm who currently sits third in ULMS points. Other expected entries are Greg Oakes, Bob Dorman, Wyatt Scott, Mike Smith, Kevin Smith, Hess and Dan Stone are all expected to be on hand along with several others.
ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for both events, which include Integra Shocks hot lap qualifying, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. No more than 5 cars will hot lap qualify at a time. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw will see someone get awarded the $100 Jay’s Auto Wrecking Unlucky Dog award for redrawing the worst pill. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners. Outlaw Speedway utilizes the Mylaps/AMB transponder system for all timing and scoring.
Joining the ULMS Late Models will be the Patriot Sprint Cars, big block modifieds, sportsman modifieds, street stocks, hobby stocks and 4 cylinders. Pits open at 5pm. All pit passes are $40 with grandstand admission being $30. ULMS pre race tech begins at 5pm (location TBA), registration begins at 5pm and ends at 630pm. ULMS driver meeting will be at 6:30PM at the ULMS Command Center with hot laps beginning at 6:50pm which will include ULMS Integra Shock Hot Lap Qualifying and heat racing beginning at 7:30pm.
