The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series return to the track this coming weekend after very wet April that saw all three events lost due to the weather. Friday night will see the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Models make their first visit to Big Diamond Speedway in Pottstown, PA and then head to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday.
Last year’s event at Big Diamond got washed away due to rain, so the anticipated return of the super late models to Big Diamond has the region ready to see the high powered late models on the big banks of Pottstown oval.
The main event will pay $3,500 to win and will be 30 laps in length. The series is lead by current point leader, Gregg Satterlee followed by dirt late model Hall of Famer, Rick Eckert. Both drivers have ULMS wins on the year and will both be in attendance Friday at Big Diamond. Other notable names that will be on hand include Tyler Emory who sits third in points, along with 2015 series point champion, Jared Miley, current ULMS Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader and Port Royal Speedway point leader, Colton Flinner, Danny Snyder, Dan Stone, Dylan Yoder, Andrew Yoder, Andy Haus, the Bernheisel father and son duo of Jim and Bryan along with series full time regulars, Dave Stamm and last year’s Chew on This Jerky ULMS Rookie of Year driver Deshawn Gingerich.
Pits open at 5pm Friday night at Big Diamond with grandstands opening at 5:30pm ULMS Registration begins at 5pm at the ULMS Command Center. On track activities begin at 7:15PM with ULMS Integra Shocks Hot Lap Qualifying.
On Saturday, the Zimmer’s Service Center United Late Model Series will head to Port Royal Speedway for a 30 lapper paying $4,000 to win. The Speed Palace has become the central PA home for the ULMS Late Model Series as it has held eleven events since 2018.
ULMS Chew On This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader, Colton Flinner is the current point leader at Port Royal with four wins at the Speed Palace including the series event in March. Series point leader, Gregg Satterlee has made ULMS events at Port Royal his personal playground as he has won four of the last five ULMS events at Port Royal.
A star studded field of cars are expected to be on hand with Satterlee, Eckert, Flinner, Emory, Miley, Snyder, Stone, Yoder, Haus, Gingerich, Stamm, Kyle Lee, Gene Knaub, Mason Zeigler, Matt Cosner, Jeff Rine, all being on hand at the Speed Palace.
Saturday at Port Royal the pits will open at 4PM and on track racing beginning at 7PM. ULMS Entry Fee are $50 for each event.
ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for both events, which include Integra Shocks hot lap qualifying, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. No more than 5 cars will hot lap qualify at a time. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw will see someone get awarded the $100 Jay’s Auto Wrecking Unlucky Dog award for redrawing the worst pill. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners.
Purses for Big Diamond will be as follows: $3,500, $1700 $1200 $1000 $800 $750 $700 $650 $625 $600 $500 $400 $350 (13th -24th).
