The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series kicks off their 18th season of operation on Saturday, March 24th with the annual Chiller Thriller finding a new home. The $3000 event that has normally been the series kickoff event at Mercer Raceway Park has found a new home at Port Royal Speedway.

“We are very excited to open our big 21 race schedule at Port Royal Speedway on March 24th, stated ULMS Series owner and race director, Chris Zuver.” “With Mercer not operating in 2018, we needed an early race as usual on our schedule and Port Royal has become one of not the nicest facilities in Pennsylvania and it was a no brainer for us to branch out and into central PA.”

The anticipation of the northern ULMS Series has really picked up over the past few weeks as race day is getting closer with race teams circling March 24th on their schedules for the ULMS series. Race fans should see the Close Racing Supply Elite teams of Doug Eck, who is driving for the defending series champion car owner, Terry Suppa in 2018, plus Breyton Santee, John Weaver, Al Brewer, Max Blair, Michael Wonderling, Jason Dobson, Chad Wright, Bobby Rohrer, Greg Oakes and defending series two time champion, Dave Hess Jr. Hess and Wonderling have contacted series officials that they may not be ready to compete at Port Royal as their cars are still being assembled.

Joining the ULMS Elite teams at Port Royal on March 24th will see the names of Austin Hubbard, Tyler Bare, Matt Cosner, Jared Miley, Dan Stone, Rance Garlock along with Port Royal stars Mike Lupfer, Andy Haus, Dylan Yoder, Jim Yoder and many more will be on hand for the series inaugural event to the Speed Palace.

ULMS R&R Transmission Rookie of the Year chase will start at Port Royal also with Chad Wright, Jason Dobson and Michael Wonderling running for the $500 year end prize for the ULMS Rookie of the Year.

The event will be 30 laps in length paying $3000 to win and $300 to start. Race teams are reminded that Port Royal uses the RED AMB Transponder system and rentals will be available at the track if needed. All teams must fill out Port Royal track registration form and that can be found online at the track website at www.portroyalspeedway.com. Entry Fee for all teams will be $30 paid upon filling out registration at ULMS Series command center when pulling your qualifying pill.

ULMS race procedures are Hot Lap group qualifying setting up the heat race starting lineups. Depending on the number of heats the top heat qualifiers will redraw (no more than 10 cars will redraw) for the 30 lap Chiller Thriller. Twenty four cars will start the main event with twenty two qualifying through heats and consolation event(s), the final two positions going to Port Royal Speedway track provisional and top Close Racing Supply ULMS Elite Driver that is eligible.

“This first event to kick off the season really sets the program up for 2018 season where we have scheduled 21 events in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, stated Zuver.” “With me no longer operating and promoting McKean County Raceway, I have concentrated all my efforts into the series and it shows with our largest schedule since 2013 season.”
