After, the foot of snow that fell on Port Royal Speedway last week, the “Chiller Thriller” was postponed making Tri City Raceway Park the new recipient for the 2018 season opener for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series on Saturday, April 7th paying $2000 to win.
“We were obviously disappointed with mother nature ruining our opener at Port Royal last week, but being back close to our home area on April 7th for the “Mudslinger” at Tri City is just as exciting,” stated ULMS Series owner, Chris Zuver. “Mark and Chad have put together a nice schedule for the special event facility and we obviously wanted to be part of their program”
The Mudslinger will feature the ULMS Late Models for the first time since 2015 and the 25 lap feature will pay $2000 to win and $225 to start. Jared Miley won the last ULMS event at Tri City with other past ULMS winners being Boom Briggs, Rob Blair and Mike Knight. Blair is the all time series feature winner with 12 wins all time and leads his son, Max Blair by one win.
A good stellar field of cars are expected on hand including the Close Racing Supply ULMS ELITE drivers of defending series two time champion, Dave Hess Jr., Doug Eck, who will be driving for the team Hess drove for the past two years under the championship team of Suppa Racing, Breyton Santee, John Weaver, Al Brewer, Max Blair, Mike Wonderling, Jason Dobson, Chad Wright, Bobby Rohrer, Greg Oakes and Garrett Mott. Those drivers along with many others such as Mike Pegher Jr., Bob Dorman, Darrell Bossard, Nathan Hill, Chris Hackett, Brandon Groters and others are expected to be on hand for the 2018 Tri City Raceway Park opener.
ULMS R&R Transmission Rookie of the Year chase will start at Tri City Raceway Park also with Chad Wright, Jason Dobson , Michael Wonderling and Garrett Mott running for the $500 year end prize for the ULMS Rookie of the Year.
The event will be 25 laps in length paying $2000 to win and $225 to start. Race teams are reminded that Tri City uses the RED AMB Transponder system and rentals will be available at the track if needed. All teams must fill out series and track registration form. Entry Fee for all teams will be $25 paid upon filling out registration at ULMS Series command center when pulling your qualifying pill.
ULMS race procedures are Hot Lap group qualifying setting up the heat race starting lineups. Depending on the number of heats the top heat qualifiers will redraw (no more than 10 cars will redraw) for the 25 lap Mudlsinger. Twenty four cars will start the main event with twenty two qualifying through heats and consolation event(s), the final two positions going Close Racing Supply ULMS Elite Drivers that are eligible.
