The Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series returned to Bradford Speedway for the first time in 2021 and a familiar face found victory lane. David Scott of Garland, PA picked up his 14th career ULMS win and his second ULMS win at Bradford last night holding off Max Blair in a two lap shootout to conclude the 30 lap event that paid $3000 to win.
David Scott and Max Blair paced the 18 car field to the green flag. Slowride earned the pole position due to his Jay’s Auto Wrecking Pole Scramble win immediately took the lead at the start before the yellow lights flashed for Chew on This Jerky ULMS Rookie of Year contender, Ryan Scott. A complete restart saw Slowride in the Terry Suppa owned #4s Lazer Chassis back to the front with Blair, Wyatt Scott, Bryce Davis and Greg Oakes completing the top five. Caution on lap two again for Ryan Scott who was having a bad night on the highbank ¼ oval.
The race restarted and Bryce Davis used the high line to jump to third and on lap four moved into second ahead of Blair. The 2019 ULMS Bradford winner was looking to chase down the Slowride machine, but Blair came charging back to regain second as Davis slipped high and seventh place starter, Mike Wonderling Jr quickly jumped into third and was knocking on the door of Blair for second. With ten in the books Scott was still out front with Blair, Wonderling, Wyatt Scott and Oakes now in fifth.
At the halfway point, Oakes had moved into fourth as the former two time ULMS Bradford Speedway winner was now starting to make his charge to the front. Wyatt Scott moved back to fourth behind Wonderling on lap 19. The final ten laps, Blair started to make a charge on Slowride as Wonderling was sitting in third and Oakes was back on the charge against the younger Scott as they swapped fourth on consecutive laps. Lap 25 saw Wyatt take third from Wonderling and Oakes put the #18 of Wonderling back another position on lap 26. With two laps to go the yellow lights came on as disaster struck for Wonderling who came to a stop in turn 4 and collecting Bryce Davis who had no where to go. Both were finished for the evening and setting up a two lap dash to see John Powell’s double checkers.
The two lap shoot out saw Blair slide high in turn one and two and Wyatt Scott slipping by quickly for second only to see the lights come on again for Joe Petyak who spun setting up a second two lap finale restart. This time, Blair hit his marks in turn one and two and charged past Slowride down the backstraight and the pair charged out of turn 4 side by side with the #4s having a slight advantage as the white flag flew. Slowride kept the #111v of Blair behind him on the final lap to secure the win over Blair, Wyatt Scott, Oakes, Damien Bidwell, Deshawn Gingerich, Zach Wiech, Ryan Scott, Jason Dobson and Jason Harmon rounded out the top ten.
