The Jay’s Automotive ULMS Racing Series return to Lernerville Speedway this Saturday night. The Ken Schaltenbrand Sr Memorial will highlight the night with a $4000 to win event for the ULMS Late Models
Plus lap money as the late models will be topless. Also on the card will be the United E-Mod Series as it returns after a several year hiatus with a $1500 to win event.

Last year Ken Schaltenbrand Memorial saw Ashton Winger fend off several challenges from 2023 track champion Michael Norris and former track and series champion Dave Hess Jr. The ULMS event in May saw Gregg Satterlee take home the win in the previous ULMS event held at the Sarver, PA oval. Neither Winger or Satterlee are expected Saturday night.

ULMS will be led by current series point leader, Tyler Emory, of King George, VA who will be joined by Ryan Montgomery. The Virginia and West Viriginia drivers are in a tight point chase heading down the stretch, so every lap counts. Dylan Cecce sits third in points with Logan Zarin and Dave Stamm rounding out the top five in points for the Jays Auto Wrecking ULMS Elite teams. The Lernerville faithful of track champion, Michael Norris, Alex Ferree, Tyler Dietz, John Garvin, Colton Flinner, along with Ken Schaltenbrand racing in memory of his father and Levi Yetter will be competing in memory of his grandfather.

Also new for 2023 is after the 3rd caution the restarts will be single file and all cautions with less than 5 laps in the feature will be single file. ULMS will still utilize the Delaware restart procedures leading up to the fourth caution to initial the single fire restarts. Also beginning this year when the second place car chooses his lane under the Delaware restart, all other positions will follow as suit (2nd place chooses outside 3rd in 4th out, 5th in and so on).

All late model teams that have not competed with ULMS in 2023 must present their cars along with safety equipment (helmet and Hans device) at pre-race safety and car inspection. Once your car has been inspected you will not need to present your safety equipment again, unless you enter a different car during the weekend. Lernerville uses the MYLAPS transponder for scoring and timing. Raceivers are mandatory and frequency will be 454.000. ULMS will be using the universal body rule for 2023 including the droop rule where the droop will be check once the Left Rear tire leaves the ground. This is the same as World of Outlaws and Lucas Oil series. Entry Fee for each event is $75 per event.

The United Emod Series will be in action for the first time since 2017 when its last event was held at Eriez Speedway and it saw Joel Watson in victory lane. The series announced in the fall of 2022 that it was going to return in 2023 but with only few shows. Lernerville Speedway will hold two events this fall with a possibility of two more shows being added as the series plans a full ten race schedule in 2024.

The UEMS Emods will be sanctioned by DirtCar / UMP Racing allowing teams that are UMP members and running for UMP points to have some extra events to gain valuable weekly and national UMP points. The main event will be 25 laps seeing the winner take $1500 out of the $7775 purse.

UMP teams that have shown interest on attending and are expected to be on hand are former UEMS winner, Dan Davies of Warren, PA in the Wellbank Energy #71D Lethal Chassis, Ty Rhoades of Guys Mills, PA, Nathan Young of Painesville, OH, Jared Spalding of Troy, PA, George Dixon Jr. of Hesston, Bud Watson of Kingsville, OH, Michael Altobelli of Saxton, PA and the Taylor Boys of Johnathan and Evan Taylor of Saltsburg are some of the teams that have reached out to ULMS Racing Series.

The series will also have a mini point fund for atleast the two events schedule at Lernerville with $500 going to the mini series point leader. The UEMS Emods will follow the same race procedures as the ULMS Late Model and they will hot lap time trial for their starting positions in the heat races. The Entry fee for UEMS racers is $25 to help with the mini point fund. All UEMS teams must go thru pre race tech that will also consist with Lernerville Speedway safety check before they are allowed on the track. . Lernerville uses the MYLAPS transponder for scoring and timing. Raceivers are mandatory and frequency will be 454.000

“We are excited to be at Lernerville this weekend for the Ken Schaltenbrand Memorial,” stated ULMS founder, Chris Zuver. “The Yetter/Schaltenbrand family have been working hard on securing lap sponsorship for the ULMS portion of the event and last years Topless event was thrilling to watch with a 32 car field on hand.”

“We are grateful for our partnership with Lernerville Speedway and thankful for their support in brining the UEMS Series back for 2023, stated ULMS race director, Trevor Zuver.” The younger Zuver continued, “The UEMS program was a huge deal back about 10 years ago in the western PA region and the modified division kinda died for a bit but they are making a comeback and after seeing some unsanctioned events last fall, we felt it was time to bring UEMS back to life. We are in this for the long haul for UEMS and plan a full schedule in 2024 with a lucrative point fund along with the same type of Elite driver program that we have for the ULMS Late Models. Our goal is to ensure every modified driver in the region is fully aware that UEMS is here for them today, tomorrow and years to come.
