The Jay’s Automotive ULMS Late Model Series made its first visit of the season to Port Royal Speedway for the 20th annual Butch Renninger Memorial to kick off the 169th Juania County Fair. The 33 lap main event saw Gregg Satterlee take his third straight Renninger Memorial and his fifth overall in the event along with the $7333 first place prize money and additional $1000 in lap money.
Thirty four ULMS Late Models entered the pits for the Butch Renninger Memorial with ULMS Jay Auto Wrecking Elite driver and current point leader Tyler Emory setting fast time. The current point leader and Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader won heat number one with Rick Eckert, Matt Cosner and Gregg Satterlee winning the other three heats and consolation events were won by Michael Norris and Drake Troutman.
Trevor Feathers and Satterlee set the pace for the 28 car starting field. Satterlee immediately shot to the lead over Feathers as Rick Eckert grabbed third from Donald Lingo. Lap two saw Emory grab the fifth spot from his seventh place starting spot as Satterlee had already opened a 10 car length lead over Feathers.
The race went green flag racing with Satterlee holding a half straightaway lead over Feathers when he started to encounter the rear of the field. Feathers would close in on Satterlee in lap traffic but the #22 kept a lap car in between him and Feathers black #20, while doing the same with Eckert. Drake Troutman was using the high line to race his way into tenth from his eighteenth starting spot but his bad luck returned and his strong run ended early.
As the green flag laps clicked off Sattelee was still lapping the field and Feathers was still in striking distance along with Eckert and now Emory moving into fourth in the Pete Cameron owned #72 and Dan Stone in the Super Deuce #2 was fifth. The final several laps clicked off as the 33 lap event went green to checker and Satterlee would take another Renninger Memorial and his 21st Jays Automotive ULMS Late Model Series win over Feathers, Eckert, Emory and Stone.
