The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series made first ever appearances to Big Diamond Speedway and Hagerstown Speedway this past Friday and Saturday night for a pair of $3500 to win events. Gregg Satterlee picked up his 4th ULMS win of the season. Kyle Hardy grabbed the win Saturday night at Hagerstown for his second win of the season and also earning a guaranteed starting spot for next months Nathan Durboraw Memorial.

Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway the ULMS Late Models finally got their event in at the Coal Township oval. The previous two attempts in 2021 and this past May were washed out by rain. Not on this day with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 80s. Gregg Satterlee set the overall fast time in Integra Shocks Qualifying and he would also win his qualifying heat and earn the pole by redrawing the number one position in the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw.

Satterlee and Danny Snyder paced the 18 car field to the green with Satterlee immediately going into the lead at the start with Snyder falling into second. The first caution of the event came out on lap two as contact between Deshawn Gingerich and Andrew Yoder coming out of turn four ended the evening for Yoder. Satterlee rocketed on the restart and immediately pulled away from the field as Snyder and current series point leader Jared Miley battled for second with Tyler Hershey, Andy Haus and Dylan Yoder also battling for positions. Satterlee was putting a torrid pace putting the field a lap down. Hershey had worked his way to second with Snyder third and Miley had fallen to fifth and then sixth as Haus and Yoder both got by. With seven to go the tight batch of cars of Snyder, Yoder, Haus and Miley were in lap traffic when contact was made by a slower car resulting in Snyder to go spinning off the back stretch with Yoder brining out the yellow and changing the running order and tighten the field on Satterlee. Both Snyder and Yoder returned to after a quick pit stop and Satterlee again roared away from the field. Hershey was being challenged by Miley for second and Dylan Yoder was charging hard to get back to the front. At the checkers it was Satterlee picking up his 15th ULMS win of his career ahead of Hershey who grabbed a series best finish in second, Miley grabbed third with Haus and Dylan Yoder rebounding to grab fifth on the final lap passing Ben Whittaker.

On Saturday, the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series made its first ever visit to Hagerstown Speedway. Similar to Big Diamond the last several attempts by the series and the track were foiled by weather but not on this day as sun and 80 degrees welcomed the 30 cars and fans in attendance.

Rick Eckert would set overall fast time in Integra Shock Qualifying over the 30 cars on hand. Heat winners were Kyle Hardy, Satterlee, Travis Stickley and Tyler Emory with Eckert grabbing the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Pole for the 30 lap main event.

Eckert would pace the field with Hardy to his right side. Just as he did in the heat, Hardy drove hard on the cushion in one and two to grab the lead right off the bat down the backstretch over Eckert, Eddie Carrier Jr, Satterlee and Stickley as lap one clicked off the board.

Lap 13 would see third place running Carrier go pit side with engine problems ending his night while Hardy was keeping three to four car lengths of distance between himself and Eckert. Satterlee would move into third place. Matt Cosner would move into the top five, when the yellow lights came out for the first caution of the event on lap 19 followed by the second caution on the same lap resulting in a single file restart per series rules of back to back cautions. Hardy was up to the challenge for both restarts and would lead rest of the event over Eckert, Satterlee, with Cosner grabbing fourth from Stickley with three to go when he got high in turn 2. Stickley would come home fifth with series point leader, Miley in sixth followed by Emory, Kyle Lee, Dylan Yoder and Gary Stuhler rounding out the top 10. Hardy not only grabbed the $3500 prize but also a guaranteed starting spot for the $5000 to win Nathan Durboraw Memorial in August at Hagerstown.
