For the first time in Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series history, Bedford Speedway hosted the series for their annual Labor Day 55 that paid $7055 to win. Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Rick Eckert found himself standing on the stage at the end of the night for his second ULMS win of 2019 and his first at Bedford since 1994.
Mason Zeigler and Andy Haus paced the field to green for the 55 lap main event. Zeigler immediately grabbed the lead over Haus while Jason Covert challenged. On lap 8 restart Covert would take over second from Haus and immediately went after Ziegler and Max Blair went from eighth to fifth. Lap 15 would see Cov ert all over Zeigler and then the pair would slide job each other to swap the lead until the caution came out for 4th place running Austin Hubbard.
On the lap 17 restart, Satterlee grabbed fourth from Blair with Eckert nipping at the quarter panel of the #111 machine. Zeigler would have the race taken away from him on lap 20 when his car broke in turn 4 to bring out the caution handing the lead over to a very appreciative Covert.
Restart saw Eckert get around Blair and Satterlee now challenging Haus for the runner up spot when the yellow lights flashed for Nathan Lasalle. On the restart Satterlee took over second from Haus and Blair was now fourth with Eckert back to fifth. The lights came out again to slow the field for Drake Troutman and Max Blair who found himself third went pit side with a broken right front shock ending his night.
As the field got going again under green and the halfway point was reached, Covert was still in the front position with Satterlee closing in and Eckert now in third with Haus, Ross Robinson, Bryan Bernheisel, Gene Knaub, Dylan Yoder and Jared Miley rounding out the top 10.
By lap 35 the top four had broken away from the fifth place running Robinson. Eckert would grab second on lap 41 as Satterlee jumped the cushion. With ten laps remaining Eckert was closing in on Covert. With five to go Eckert was all over Covert and Satterlee and Haus were closing in on the leaders setting up a epic finish. Coming to lap 52, Covert would jump the cushion in turn four and make contact with the wall allowing Eckert to drive by and take over the top spot. On the very next lap, contact between Haus and Satterlee resulted in both of them spinning and bringing out the yellow. Eckert refired the field and led the final two laps to claim the $7055 prize money over Ross Robinson who had gotten by Covert on the lap 53 restart. Covert finished a disappointing third with Bryan Bernheisel, Jared Miley, Dylan Yoder, Andy Haus, Matt Sponaugle, Gregg Satterlee and Chuck Clise rounding out the top 10.
Austin Hubbard set Integra Shocks Fast time over the 32 cars on hand with a time of 19.889 seconds at a speed of 96.837 mph. Heat winners were Hubbard, H aus, Mike Lupfer and Satterlee. Miley and Shaun Jones won the two Bmains.
