Rhoades Strikes at Hummingbird with First Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series Victory of 2024!
Harmony, Pennsylvania resident Ty Rhoades put his TR2 Racing #12r Lethal Chassis in Close Racing Supply Victory Lane Saturday night, July 13th, 2024 at Hummingbird Speedway. A field of 26 Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series entrants signed in to race at the Jefferson County, Pennsylvania dirt oval.
The Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series saw a total of 68 green flag laps from the drop of the green in hot laps till the checkered in the main event. Early on, three sessions of hot laps would take place for the tour before going back out for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying (LLE). LLE Elite Driver Mason Lobb would take the top spot in qualifying in his #28 Lethal Chassis early on. Three United Construction & Pressure Washing Heat Races would be set to follow. From the fourth starting position, Zach Johnson would take the win in heat one over LLE driver’s Ty Rhoades and Mason Lobb. Nolan Dalton snagged the second heat over pole sitter Joel Watson and third place Troy Loomis. Wyatt Scott in his #3 Afflixtion Chassis picked up the third and final heat race from the pole position over the #77D of Dustin DeMattia and #05 of Greg Johnson.
The top two of each heat locked themselves into the redraw and all cars would qualify to the main event as Hummingbird Speedway graciously paid the extra position to start an additional car for the night.
The Three River’s Karting & Entertainment Redraw saw LLE Driver Ty Rhoades take the top spot and Nolan Dalton round out the front row. The Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series hit the track at approximately 10:00PM for the 20 lap main event paying $1,000.00 to victor. Rhoades led them off into turns three and four to take the green for two laps before disaster struck seeing the four cars get turned around in turns one and two. With the field lineup back Delaware Double File, and Rhoades still out front he lead them to green again only to see three more consecutive yellows on lap two. Series director Trevor Zuver had the field go to single file restarts after the second in efforts to save equipment between the teams. An early charging Joel Watson would be seen pulling off early as he had bent left suspension on his #92. Later in the race the #11 of Troy Loomis would get loose tagging the right of LLE Driver Mason Lobb sending the #71L of Dennis Lunger around along with two others. Lobb and Loomis were able to gather up the cars before being in the yellow. Rhoades would then again lead the field to green and continue on to lead wire to wire in the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series first event at Hummingbird Speedway.
The Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series thank’s everyone that came out in support of Saturday’s event and hopes to see everyone back in two weeks as the series returns to Hummingbird Speedway alongside the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series. The UMP DirtCar Sanctioned Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series moves onto Hummingbird Speedway Saturday, July 27th, for a $1,000.00 to win and $200.00 to start event.
