Norris WINS “Willie & Conda McConnell” at Lernerville!
Local star, Michael Norris captured his second Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series victory of 2024 on Friday at Lernerville Speedway over two time winner Gregg Satterlee. Norris would end up bringing home $6,525.00 for his victory with the included lap money raised by John McConnell.
With 22 entries, the Jay’s United Late Model Series set out for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying that saw Alex Ferree set fast time. Ferree would claim Rocket Chassis heat race number one, Michael Norris won Keizer Racing Wheels heat race number two and Gregg Satterlee won Swift Springs heat race number three. Three Rivers Karting & Entertainment Park redraw put Hookstown, PA’s LoganZarin and Sarver, PA’s Michael Norris on the front row.
After an intermission to farm the track, the Fourth Annual Chew on This Jerky “Willie & Conda McConnell Memorial” Present by Zarin Truck & Automotive was set to take the green for thirty laps. Out the gate, Norris would be quick to the start and take the lead over Zarin out of two and never looked back leading wire to wire in the thirty lap event. Zarin would end his night in disaster as he caught the frontstretch wall racing against the #48 of Colton Flinner. The damage would push the #1z to retire for the evening. Several cautions throughout the night saw teams retire with flats, damage, or mechanical failures. A lap 28 red flag incident would end the night of Oil City, PA’s Tyler Wyant and his #24 Kryptonite Chassis as he flipped violently off of turn four. Thankfully Wyant was checked out by medics and released uninjured from the incident. With a green, white, checkered finish, Norris would cross the finish line first, Satterlee in second and Sarver’s own Levie Yetter in his #9 Barry Wright Icon in third as he picked up the hard charger.
The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series thanked everyone that came out in support of the Fourth Annual Chew on This Jerky “Willie & Conda McConnell Memorial” Present by Zarin Truck & Automotive at Lernerville Speedway for another historic night of racing. You can see the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series return to Lernerville Speedway again in 2024 on Saturday, August 31st for the TOPLESS “Ken Schaltenbrand Sr Memorial”.
