The Willie and Conda McConnell Memorial is set for Friday night at Lernerville Speedway for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series.   The 30 lap event will pay $4000 to the winner plus lot of extra lap money.  The event has seen two different winner in the previous two McConnell Memorials.

The series is lead by Jay’s Auto Wrecking Elite driver and current Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader Tyler Emory along with other Elite drivers, Dylan Cecce and Ryan Montgomery who all sit in the top five in points.   Current point leader, Jacob Hawkins has expressed interest of making the trip to Sarver from his Fairmon, WV race shop also.  Last year’s winner Gregg Satterlee is expected to be on hand to defend his 2022 McConnell Memorial win.

Other Jay’s Auto Wrecking Elite drivers that will be in attendance will be Dave Stamm, Jon Lee, Braeden Dillinger, Del Rougeux, RJ Dallape, Daryl Charlier, and Logan Zarin who has many laps around the Sarver oval.   Lernerville Speedway will be represented by their current point leader Tyler Dietz, opening night winner John Garvin Jr., Michael Norris who won last week at Lernerville and the ULMS portion of the Steel City Stampede last October in the Joe Corrado #10 will be joined by Levi Yetter, Matt Lux, Colton Flinner, Alex Ferree and many other weekly regulars.   Regional racers, such as former two time series champion Dave Hess Jr, Chub Frank, Derek Rogers and others are expected to be on hand Friday night.

The 30 lap event in memory of the parents of the McConnell Family. The Willie and Conda McConnell Memorial has every lap sponsored with an additional $500 to the winner making the original $3500 to win event $4000 to win!  The ULMS Racing Series family wants to thank John McConnell and Garage Crawl for their hard work in securing sponsorship for the racers in this event.

Pits open at 4pm Friday night at Lernerville with grandstands opening at 5pm ULMS Registration begins at 4pm at the ULMS Command Center. Registration ends at 6:30 pm with drivers meeting at 6:35PM. On track activities begin at 6:50PM featuring ULMS Lindemuth Laser Etching Hot Lap Qualifying followed by heat events at 7:30PM. ULMS teams are reminded that Lernerville Speedway uses the MyLaps transponder for scoring and timing.

ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for both events, which include Lindemuth Laser Etching Hot Lap Qualifying, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. ULMS will redraw for the feature with the top 2 heat finishers redrawing after their heats.  The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Left Front – Open RF / LR / RR Hoosier 2 or 3  LM 20 or 30

American Racer  44 or 48.  Siping and grooving is allowed.

Also new for 2023 is after the 3rd caution the restarts will be single file and all cautions with less than 5 laps in the feature will be single file.  ULMS will still utilize the Delaware restart procedures leading up to the fourth caution to initial the single fire restarts.  Also beginning this year when the second place car chooses his lane under the Delaware restart, all other positions will follow as suit (2nd place chooses outside 3rd in 4th out, 5th in and so on).

All late model teams must present their cars along with safety equipment (helmet and Hans device) at pre-race safety and car inspection. Once your car has been inspected you will not need to present your safety equipment again, unless you enter a different car during the weekend. Lernerville Speedway uses the MYLAPS transponders for scoring and timing. Limited transponder rentals are available at the Hooiser / Precise Racing trailer.  Raceivers are mandatory and frequency will be 454.000. ULMS will be using the universal body rule for 2023 including the droop rule where the droop will be check once the Left Rear tire leaves the ground.  This is the same as World of Outlaws and Lucas Oil series.

Entry Fee for the event is $75.
