Mason Zeigler Seeks Redemption and WINS Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Stars & Stripes Showdown!

Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania native Mason Zeigler swept the night piloting his #25z Rocket Chassis to Close Racing Supply Victory Lane in his Championship Chase for the 25th Anniversary Season of the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series last night at The Dirt Track at Genesee in Batavia, New York! Zeigler’s win put his earnings at $12,504.00 for the United Late Model Series Stars & Stripes Showdown after finishing second in the prelim on Thursday night..

With seventeen entries signed in for competition, the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series set out for Qualifying that saw Logan Zarin set quick time for the second straight night over Brock Pinkerous and Michael Lake. Zarin and Montgomery, both 2025 United Late Model Series “Elite Drivers” would lead the field to green in heat race number one. Montgomery was quick to the start having the start called back by officials. Back to green Zarin piloted his way out front but it didn’t last as Montgomery would make the pass for the lead to win the heat and see Zarin keep the second and final redraw position. The current Integra Shocks Challenge Series and Chew On This Jerky Rookie Points leader, #555 of Brock Pinkerous and local hot shoe Dave Hess Jr took the second heat to green seeing the veteran driver of Hess pilot his way to a win. 2024 ULMS Champion Michael Lake and current point leader Mason Zeigler went wire to wire maintaining position in the third and final heat of the night seeing Lake victorious.

The redraw saw Hess claim the pole position with Zeigler on the outside of the front row. After a rework of the racetrack, the field was set to go green for the 50 lap, United Late Model Series Stars & Stripes Showdown paying $10,004.00 to win and $500.00 to start! With the drop of the green Zeigler jumped out front to an early lead and with a caution on lap 12 for the 18* of Dylan Cecce the field was reset. Back to green, top five runner Michael Lakes’ night came to an abrupt end with a broken rear end. Lap thirteen restart saw Pinkerous and Montgomery duel it out which resulted in a flat tire for the 12 team. Back to green, a long green flag run showed Zeigler maintain pace for the race with Hess keeping him within striking distance. After half way, Hess began reeling in race leader Mason Zeigler but it was Logan Zarin who tracked them both down in traffic as the fastest car on the track at the time. With five to go, Hess cut Zeigler’s race-long lead from over a second to 0.584 seconds. With two to go it seemed Hess may just steal the show again from the 25 team out of turn four until a caution for the 97 of Kevin Smith flew restacking the field for a single file restart. Back to green Zeigler hit his marks sealing the Stars & Stripes Showdown victory and his second United Late Model Series victory of 2025!
