Mason Zeigler WINS Second Straight Darryl Hills Memorial at Potomac Speedway with United Late Model Series!
For Immediate Release: November 1, 2026
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania native Mason Zeigler captured his eleventh career Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Presented By M&T Appliances victory on Saturday, October 24, at Potomac Speedway, claiming the $6,500-to-win Darryl Hills Memorial for the second consecutive year.
A strong field of 27 Super Late Models signed in for competition as the United Late Model Series brought its 2026 championship season to a close at the Mechanicsville, Maryland oval.
Zeigler wasted little time establishing himself as the driver to beat, opening the evening by setting the fastest time in Hot Laps before continuing his impressive pace by topping the qualifying charts to earn Fast Time honors.
Three competitive heat races followed, with Mason Zeigler, Dylan Lewis, and Trever Feathers each collecting victories. The top two finishers from each heat race advanced to the redraw for the main event, where Zeigler received a little help from a young fan in the pit area who drew the coveted M&T Appliances Pole Position. Fellow championship contender Jon Lee would complete the front row.
With the field assembled, Zeigler led the charge to the green flag in what would quickly develop into a race of survival and endurance.
Early cautions disrupted the action, including an incident that saw front-runner Dylan Lewis get spun around, forcing him to restart from the tail of the field. Just one lap later, a massive nine-car pileup erupted along the frontstretch, bringing out the red flag and forcing four competitors to retire after sustaining heavy damage.
The caution-filled contest continued to test the remaining competitors as several additional yellows slowed the pace. Another frightening incident brought out the red flag when Kenny Moreland spun, collecting Ken Schaffer. In the ensuing chaos, Schaffer’s machine was struck in the left rear while attempting to avoid the incident, sending his car upside down.
Despite the numerous interruptions and challenging track conditions, Zeigler remained composed at the front of the field.
With ten laps remaining, the field returned to green-flag racing, and Zeigler once again demonstrated his dominance, pacing the remaining competitors to the checkered flag to secure his third trip to Close Racing Supply Victory Lane with the United Late Model Series in 2026.
The victory marked Zeigler’s eleventh career United Late Model Series triumph and his second consecutive Darryl Hills Memorial victory, adding another prestigious accomplishment to his impressive racing résumé.
While Zeigler celebrated in Victory Lane, another major storyline unfolded as Jon Lee officially clinched his first career Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Presented By M&T Appliances Championship, along with the Chew On This Jerky Rookie of the Year honors.
Lee secured the championship over fellow title contenders Bryan Bernheisel and Dylan Lewis, capping off a memorable season and earning his place among the United Late Model Series champions.
The 2026 Darryl Hills Memorial brought the curtain down on another season of United Late Model Series competition, delivering an unforgettable championship finale filled with intense racing, dramatic incidents, and championship celebrations at Potomac Speedway.
