Mason Zeigler Goes Wire-to-Wire at Tyler County with the United Late Model Series

For Immediate Release: May 03, 2026

Pittsburgh, PA – Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania native Mason Zeigler scored his first Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Presented by M&T Appliances victory of the 2026 season on Saturday night at Tyler County Speedway, capturing the $5,080-to-win 39th Annual Topless 50 Earl Hill Memorial.

Zeigler, the reigning 2025 Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Presented by M&T Appliances Champion, has not yet committed to the full 2026 campaign. However, Saturday night’s performance may have the team reconsidering their plans for the remainder of the season.

The victory marks Zeigler’s ninth career United Late Model Series win, tying him for ninth on the all-time wins list alongside veteran driver Mike Knight.

A strong field of 29 entries signed in for competition on a brisk 50-degree day in Middlebourne, West Virginia, kicking off the twenty-sixth annual season for the United Late Model Series. The pit area featured eight Elite Drivers, six Chew On This – Jerky Rookie contenders, and a host of additional competitors.

Notable entries included Tyler Carpenter, making his first United Late Model Series start since October 2024, as well as Gateway Dirt Nationals promoter Cody Sommer’s DRT house car, driven by local standout K.C. Burdette. Veteran driver Eddie Carrier Jr. and several other regional standouts were also in attendance.

Zeigler set the pace in hot laps among the 29-car field and would have repeated the feat in qualifying. However, the No. 25z machine took an extra lap after receiving the checkered flag, resulting in his fastest time being disallowed. This handed overall fast time honors to K.C. Burdette in the No. 13 DRT Race Car, while Brock Pinkerous paced Group B in the No. 555.

A swift and efficient program followed, with the United Late Model Series A-Main concluding within three hours of the initial green flag as teams worked to stay ahead of an approaching cold front later in the evening. Four heat races and two B-Mains set the stage for the 39th Annual Topless 50 Earl Hill Memorial feature.

At the drop of the green, Zeigler quickly jumped out front, though early cautions kept Colten Burdette and Jon Lee within striking distance, with Luke Morey’s No. 49 also in contention. As the race progressed, Zeigler maintained control, navigating lap traffic multiple times while Lee and Burdette battled intensely for the runner-up position.

With fewer than five laps remaining, Lee had closed the gap to just a couple of car lengths, setting up a potential challenge for the lead. However, a lap 48 caution halted his momentum and gave Zeigler the clean track he needed. From there, Zeigler drove his Rocket Chassis to Close Racing Supply Victory Lane, securing the win in dominant, wire-to-wire fashion.
