Kyle Hardy of Stephans City, VA picked up his biggest career win last night at Trail-Way Speedway in Hanover PA in the 2nd annual Jr Eckert Memorial paying a cool $8000 to the winner topping the 21 car field.
Coleby Frye of nearby Dover, PA and three time ULMS defending series champion Max Blair paced the field to the green flag for the 50 lap event. The initial start was called back but the second attempt saw Frye beat Blair into turn one to lead lap one. Frye, Blair, Gregg Satterlee, Rick Eckert and Hardy were quickly the cars to beat. Satterlee would get around Blair for second and set his eyes on Frye and would make the a outside pass of Frye in turn four on lap 11 to grab the lead.
Satterlee would lead until a lap 12 yellow that saw Frye running second go pit side with a flat tire. Frye would return and join the field. Satterlee would have to fend off Blair and Hardy numerous times on several restarts but once the racing got going Hardy would take over second from Blair and on lap 27 Hardy and Satterlee made contact in turn three as the duo were side by side for the lead. Hardy would take over the spot and Blair would then start moving back to the front and get around Satterlee and start chasing down Hardy who had built a decent lead over Blair and Satterlee. With ten to go the distance was about five car lengths as Blair was knocking a car length per lap off the lead when Hardy would encounter lap traffic and masterfully worked the lap cars to distance himself over Blair to take the checkers for his biggest career win. Following Hardy and Blair were Satterlee, and Jason Covert and Dylan Yoder who had raced the final 20 laps side by side for fourth entertaining the fans.
