STRONGSTOWN, PA (September 2, 2018) – Kyle Hardy, of Stephens City, VA, came from his 12th starting position to win the 8th Annual Connor Bobik Memorial sanctioned by the Zimmer Servcie Center ULMS Racing Series. The pits were filled with 112 cars before a large Labor Day crowd, which included 35 ULMS Late Models on hand from five different states.
The 40 lap ULMS Connor Bobik Memorial started with Tyler Bare taking the immediate lead. Lap two saw second place runner Michael Maresca spin out in turn 4. On the restart Bare continued to lead the pack with Michael Lake in tow. On lap five the twelfth starting Kyle Hardy moved into second and took up the chase. Another caution slowed the pace on lap nine. On the restart Hardy was glued to Bare’s bumper and did a winning slide job in turn four to take the top spot. Alex Ferree became the runner up car on lap 11 and gave Hardy a battle until a yellow on lap 14.
When the green flag flew Hardy was shot out of cannon and took off never looking back. Hardy increased his lead lap after lap. A caution on lap 31 closed the field giving the competition a shot at Hardy. When the green reappeared Hardy again took off. With a few laps to go a popping noise could be heard coming from the 99V machine but he was able to go on for the win and collected a $5000 paycheck for his effort. Alex Ferree was second followed by Shane McLoughlin, Max Blair, Charlie Powell, Jr., Corey Conley, Dave Blazavich, John Wayne Weaver, Andrew Wylie and Michael Maresca came back from his early spin to grab tenth
Andrew Wylie was the Integra Shocks fast time of the night with a lap of 16.243 seconds while John Wayne Weaver won the hard charger award coming from 24th to eighth after having to start scratch due to changing cars. Wylie, Bare, Maresca and Blazavich picked up heat wins with Bob Gordon and Joe Peyak taking the B-Mains.
