The Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series is proud to welcome back Jay’s Auto Wrecking of Edinboro, PA for the 2021 season. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble will held at each ULMS Late Model Series event to determine the top starting spots instead of the redraw format that the series has used for since its inception in August 2000.

Beginning with the first event of 2021 at Williams Grove Speedway the redraw cars will run a 2 lap timed event and the overall fastest car in the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble will get lane choice on the front row and rest of the scramble cars will line up by their time in the scramble. Jay’s Auto Wrecking will award the overall scramble winner $100 at each event in 2021.

The scramble cars will be the same as in the past, as if it was a redraw. 4 heats or less, the top 2 heat qualifiers advance to the scramble. 5 or 6 heats will see winner advancing to the scramble.

The format will be simple. The scramble cars will run 2 “timed” laps and the overall fastest car in the scramble will get lane choice on the front row for the feature. Rest of the positions will fill in per each individual fastest time from the scramble.

Tracks less than ½ mile will see the scramble broken down into 2 scrambles, while ½ mile tracks will see all scramble cars on the track at the same time for their 2 timed scramble laps.

“Last year at Trail-way Speedway, for the Viper Motorsports promotes Jr Eckert Memorial, we did the scramble for the 1st time and race winner, Jason Covert, had the slowest time of scramble cars and had started the feature 6th,” stated ULMS owner, Chris Zuver.

Zuver continued, “We are always trying to have something a little different and the former redraw process had its flaws. You could set fast time, win your heat by 5 seconds, and come and redraw the worst pill. We heard from many racers asking us to change this and go do the same format as World of Outlaws, but we are not WoO and this format worked well at Trail Way and it’s interesting. It takes little time to complete and puts it all on the race teams to perform on the track for their starting position. There is no good or bad luck in the feature redraw no more, it’s your luck and skill on the track for 2 laps.”

“Charlie Bauer loves dirt late model racing and is a supporter of 2015 series champion, Jared Miley along with three time series champion Mike Knight. Jay’s Auto Wrecking supports one of our supporting tracks in Eriez Speedway also and we are pleased and grateful to have Charlie, Lexie and the entire Jay’s Auto Wrecking team a part of the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Racing Series family and the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble that will show case his business name at each event.”

Jay’s Auto Wrecking, President, Charlie Bauer stated, “Chris has really stuck it out over the years and his passion for dirt late models is almost as much as my love for late model racing. We are both passionate about this class of race cars and the ULMS series has grown over the past five years extensively, stated Charlie Bauer. Every driver hates pulling a pill and even when you have a very good car a bad redraw can end your chances at winning even before the green flag drops and the scramble concept puts everything back on the driver and their teams to have their car perfect, plus who don’t like seeing late models going wide open for two laps? Our business and the ULMS Racing Series serves the same area of the tri state region for marketing each of our product to customer base in this region.”

Bauer continued, “Jay’s Auto is extremely happy to support the ULMS Racing Series in 2021. We’ve supported the exciting sport of super late model racing for years and with the internet, Jay’s ships parts all over the region where ULMS Racing Series holds events! It’s a perfect marriage for our company.”

Jay’s Auto Wrecking will provide tracks hosting United Late Model Series events a box of pit passes for the track to use for everyone purchasing a pit pass on ULMS race night that will feature both Jay’s Auto Wrecking and ULMS Racing Series logo. Anyone with a pit pass wristband with the Jay’s Auto Wrecking logo on it can submit their wristband in for $10 off any used part in stock of $20 or more in value.
