The 2021 #ULMSmilliondollartour season kicked off a day later than originally planned as the opener at Williams Grove was postponed a week due to cold temperatures but Gregg Satterlee heated up the weekend with a $7000 sweep at Port Royal Speedway to open the all new ULMS South Region with a pair of convincing wins.

Satterlee started second due to his second place time in the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble to determine the top 8 starting spots. Mike Norris captured the $100 two lap scramble to earn the Pole Position for the 30 lap Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS season opener.

Gregg Satterlee picked right up where he left off last season, when ULMS was at Port Royal by picking up the $3000 win during the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Racing Series feature event. The win moved

Satterlee bested Michael Norris, three time defending series champion, Max Blair, Rick Eckert and Tyler Bare by 3.526 seconds to earn the victory.

“I just love coming to this place so much and it doesn’t matter how many divisions are here the track is just perfect,” said Satterlee. “It’s easy to be happy when you’re in victory lane and our car was just so good tonight.”

Norris and Satterlee led the field to the green flag and it was Norris getting the early jump. Third starter Blair moved into second initially while Satterlee settled into third.

Norris opened up an early lead and he hit happed traffic on lap eight. One lap later Satterlee slid under Blair for the runner up spot and he set his sights on the leader. Three laps later Satterlee was all over Norris and he tried unsuccessfully to take the lead for two laps.

Finally on lap 14 Satterlee used a head of steam entering turn three to slide up in front of Norris to lead heading to the flag stand. The caution flew the following lap for a slowing Mason Zeigler, but with clean air ahead of him Satterlee cruised ahead at the return to green flag action.

Norris and Blair battled side by side for most of the remaining laps, but neither had anything for Satterlee as he checked out to score the victory. Dylan Yoder, Ross Robinson, Jared Miley, Colton Flinner and Gary Stuhler made up the rest of the top ten.

“It just seems this track really suits our program here lately and we’ve been good just about everytime out,” said Satterlee. “With how much they’re paying and the fields and track conditions, it’s safe to say we’ll be visiting Port Royal a time or two this season.”

For Norris, he knew that once Satterlee got by him it was going to be tough to track him back down.

“I knew we needed to get out front early and go if we wanted a chance,” said Norris. “Gregg is so good here and once I saw him get by I think we were pretty much racing for second. It was a lot of fun out there and I hope the fans enjoyed it.”

Day two of the Port Royal double header saw Satterlee again dominate the event to take home the 35 lap $4000 to win event. Satterlee started 6th on Sunday’s event due to being the sixth fastest in the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble, which saw Mike Norris capturing his second straight scramble win and another $100.

Mike Norris charged to the lead at the start of the event with Jeff Rine following Norris with Max Blair, Satterlee up from 6th and Rick Eckert rounding out the top five. Lap two would see Satterlee take third from Blair coming out of turn four and the next lap Eckert would take fourth from Blair. By lap five all eyes were on Dylan Yoder who was up to 7th from his 18th starting spot! The caution would come out for Eckert who spun coming out of turn 2 as he had a huge run on Satterlee and in the event of making contact the famous #0 machine went around to bring out the yellow. Eckert retired from the event at this point.

The restart saw Satterlee take second from Rine and was all over Norris and would make that move for the lead, as Rine slipped by Norris with Blair and Dylan Yoder now in fifth! Lap 7 would see the yellow lights for ULMS Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year driver, Deshawn Gingerich who spun. Mason Zeigler would hit the hot pit to change a right rear tire during the caution.

The restart saw the top three the same as Yoder and Blair were side by side for fourth followed by Donald Lingo, Ross Robinson, Gary Stuhler, Andy Haus and Kyle Lee in tenth. The next caution would come out on lap 14 for Gingerich who spun in front of the leader Satterlee.

This restart would see Yoder take fourth from Blair. As the laps clicked off, Satterlee started to distance himself from the field until the third and final yellow for Deshawn Gingerich on lap 23.

The lap 23 restart would see Blair lose two spots to Lingo and Stuhler as the #111 machine slipped to seventh. The final twelve laps went green and it was Satterlee picking up his second straight ULMS win of the weekend and his third straight ULMS win (all at Port Royal) by 3.49 seconds over Rine, Norris, Blair, Yoder, Lingo, Stuhler, Blair, Robinson, Haus and Nick Dickson from 23rd starting spot.

Heat winners for the 45 cars were Bryan Bernheisel, Lingo, Blair, Norris while Amanda Robinson and Dylan Yoder winning the two Bmains. Bryan Bernheisel was the overall Integra Shock Fast time with a lap of 18.599.
