Flyin’ Ryan Montgomery WINS Thriller in “37th Annual Earl Hill Memorial Topless 50” In The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Event at Tyler County Speedway!

Fairmont, West Virginia native Ryan Montgomery found Close Racing Supply Victory Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning at the bullring, Tyler County Speedway located in Middlebourne, West Virginia.  It was the “37th Annual Earl Hill Memorial” and “Topless 50” sanctioned by the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series fueled by VP Race Fuels.

With seventeen entries signed in for competition, the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series set out for Qualifying that saw current United Late Model Series Championship Point Leader and ULMS Elite Driver Mason Zeigler set quick time for the second consecutive event.  Zeigler and defending 2024 United Late Model Series Champion and Chew on this – Jerky Rookie of the Year Michael Lake lead heat race one to green.  Contact between the two on the initial start saw the #27 of Lake spin atop turn four pushing him from the second starting position back to ninth as it was a single car caution on the initial start.  Eddie Carrier Jr would assume the second starting position.  Zeigler was quick to jump out front as the drop of the green flag waived for the second time, Carrier Jr and Ryan Montgomery battled it out behind for the final redraw position with Montgomery claiming the second and final position behind winner Mason Zeigler as Carrier tagged the backstretch wall on the final lap.  Speedway regular, Brandon Weigle and Daniel Hill lead the field to green in United Late Model Series Heat Race Number Two.  They singled themselves outfront while the battle for third waged between two more ULMS Elite Drivers of Logan Zarin and Brock Pinkerous.  The two raced side by side, sliding one another each lap for the entirety of the eight lap race with the #555 of Pinkerous eventually taking the third spot away from Zarin at the finish behind only winner Weigle and second Place Daniel Hill.  Behind them, the #9 of Levi Yetter advanced up to sixth from the tail of the field.  The United Late Model Series redraw saw the teams draw pill positions 1-4 in order putting the 25z of Mason Zeigler on the pole for the 50 lap, $5,080.00 to win event.

Zeigler led the field to green in the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series main event immediately grabbing an early lead on the 47w of Brandon Weigle.  A caution on lap two (2) and lap (3) for debri would see the field line back up with minimal change as debri was found on the speedway. Caution on lap seven saw the 11A  of Allen Clark retire from the event as he and the 10s of Dave Stamm came together on the backstretch.  Eight laps later, Zeigler already found himself at the tail end of the field putting the 10s of Dave Stamm a lap down and attempting to stretch his lead on the 47w of Weigle.  Fourteenth place running Levi Yetter retired on lap 19 and by lap 21 Zeigler had lapped up to tenth place.  A multiple second lead was quickly shuttered as the Zeigler attempted to pass the 8 of Matt Sponaugle for several laps, Weigle pressuring hard looked to have the car to beat before spinning out in turn four battling for the lead on lap 30.  Disaster struck on lap 34 for leader Mason Zeigler as a right front flat forced him to bring out a caution.  Given two courtesy laps to fix a flat in the hot pit, Zeigler rejoined the field in the tenth position.  With seventeen remaining, Montgomery went on to see the checkered flag over eighth starting Logan Zarin and Brock Pinkerous.

The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series fueled by VP Race Fuels returns to Tyler County Speedway again for the Inaugural Country Roads 100 Weekend, Friday, August 29, 2025 – Sunday, August 31, 2025! Saturday.  Three nights, three full events, paying $2,000.00, $3,000.00, and $20,000.00 to win!  The tour then heads over the Pennsboro Speedway the following day for the “Buckwild 50” paying $50,000.00 to win on September 1, 2025 pushing the winnings to $75,000.00 for the weekend with the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series!
