The Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series return to the track this coming weekend after a month away from action as several national events took place in the region. Friday night will see the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Models make their first visit to Roaring Knob Raceway Park in Markleysburg, PA and then head to Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday.
Friday will see the ULMS Late Models at Roaring Knob Motorsports Park for the Ernie Jones Memorial that is in memory of track owner, Rick Jones brother who was a late model competitor who competed at many of the regions tracks such as Winchester, Bedford, Hagerstown, Hesston and many other tracks in the southern PA, Maryland, Viriginia region. The 30 lap event will pay $3,500 to win with $350 to start. This will be the first of two ULMS Late Model Series events for 2022 at Roaring Knob and the first late model event since 2020.
The “Jet” Jared Miley of Pittsburgh PA will be leading the ULMS contingent to the 3/8 mile oval. Joining him will be 2021 Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year runner up Dave Stamm of Millmont, PA along with current Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year contender, Kyle Lee will also be on hand. Matt Cosner of Ridgeley, WV will be expected to be on hand along with other regional racers for the 2022 Ernie Jones Memorial.
Pits open at 530pm Friday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Park with grandstands opening at 6pm ULMS Registration begins at 530pm at the ULMS Command Center. On track activities begin at 7:30PM with ULMS Integra Shocks Hot Lap Qualifying.
On Saturday, the Zimmer’s Service Center United Late Model Series will head to Selinsgrove Speedway for a 35 lap Late Model Open paying $5,000 to win and $400 to start. This event was added after the April event at Selinsgrove for ULMS was cancelled due to rain.
ULMS Chew On This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader, Colton Flinner is expected to be on hand along with series point leader, Jared Miley, Gregg Satterlee who has two ULMS wins on the season and sitting second in points. Other ULMS point car notables expected to be on hand for 24th edition of the National Open are Rick Eckert, Jason Covert, Tyler Emory along with Stamm and Danny Snyder.
A star studded field of cars are expected to be on hand with Dan Stone, Dylan and Jim Yoder, Scott Haus, 2021 ULMS Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year champion, Deshawn Gingerich, Gene Knaub, Matt Cosner, Jeff Rine, all being on hand at Selinsgrove.
Saturday at Selinsgrove the pits will open at 430PM and on track racing beginning at 7PM with hotlaps followed by ULMS Integra Shock Qualifying at 730pm. With this event paying $5000 to win the series will use the normal hotlaps and then time trial format. ULMS Entry Fee are $50 for each event.
ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for both events. For Friday’s event the race procedures will include Integra Shocks hot lap qualifying, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. No more than 5 cars will hot lap qualify at a time. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Redraw will see someone get awarded the $100 Jay’s Auto Wrecking Unlucky Dog award for redrawing the worst pill. The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners.
