The Jay’s Automotive ULMS Late Model Series made its inaugural visit to Hummingbird Speedway Saturday night. The July 29th make up event for Grady’s Decision Night was on tap for the ULMS Late Models with a $3500 to win event. A record setting late model car count and the biggest crowd of the season saw ULMS Jay’s Auto Wrecking Elite driver and current series point leader and Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year point leader Tyler Emory take the money back to southern Virginia.

Teenager sensation and Marion Center Speedway 2023 track champion, Levi Yetter set Lindemuth Laser Etching overall Fast Time of 13.502 seconds around the Reynoldsville, PA oval. Heat winners were Yetter, Kenny Schaffer, Matt Lux and ULMS Elite driver Ryan Montgomery who sits second in points. ULMS Elite driver, Logan Zarin and Wayne County Speedway hot shoe Jr Gentry were the consolation winners.

Series point leader , Emery of King George, VA in the Pete Cameron owned #72 and Andew Yoder of Middlesburg, PA driving the Larry Baer #0 set the front row for the 30 lap Grady’s Decision Night event. The initial start was called back due to cars in the rear and just like the restart it was Emory grabbing the lead as the field exited turn two with Yoder in second with Jon Lee in third. The first caution of the event came out on lap five for Dan Angelicchio and Zarin in turn 3 and four. The top five was Emory over Yoder, Matt Lux, Lee and Ryan Montgomery with Dylan Cecce up to 6th from his tenth place starting spot.

The restart saw a pair of cars in turn four resulting in lap five to be restarted again. Emory restarted the field only to see the red flag come out as the turn two became a parking lot with several cars including Zarin who night came to a end. A lengthy cleanup saw ensued and the field went into single car restart due to ULMS procedures. Emory again fired first with Yoder and Lux in tow. The biggest mover was Yetter who restarted seventh and quickly went to fifth as Cecce pushed the #4s of Montgomery back to seventh. Montgomery would grab sixth back from Cecce as Kenny Schaffer now started to put pressure on the #18* when the yellow came back out again.

The lap 8 restart again saw Emory showing his muscle in the Cameron Motorsports #72. Tyler stretched his lead as the race went green as Lux was applying pressure on Yoder for the runner up spot and Levi Yetter was all over Jon Lee. Yetter would grab fourth from Lee around the halfway point as Montgomery and Lee would run door to door for fifth. Cecce would move Lee to seventh a few laps later as Lux was glued to the rear bumper of Yoder and Yetter was closing in on the duo. Meanwhile, Emory had stretched out a straightway lead over Yoder and Lux and was coming up to the rear of the field. With the event winding down 2nd thru 5th were all within several car lengths of each other as lap traffic was coming into play. Yetter would get under Lux to grab third with five to go and Montgomery would now pull even with the #111 of Lux. The final laps clicked off the board and Emory would win convincingly with Yoder coming home second and then the next five cars all within seven car lengths of each other with Yetter leading them for a third place finish over Lux, Montgomery, Ken Schaltenbrand, Cecce, Lee in eighth with Michael Lake and Andrew Wylie rounding out the top 10.
