Emory Finds Close Racing Supply Victory Lane at Williams Grove!

The Chaptico, MD  resident Tyler Emory  took home $4,000.00 for his victory at Williams Grove Speedway in his second visit to speedway. Starting from the pole position, Emory spun along with Ryan Montgomery and Matt Sponuagle ensuing a complete restart in which Emory would lead wire to wire to win the shortened twenty lap main event over Justin Weaver and LOLMDS regular Drake Troutman.

A cold and windy day in Mechanicsburg, PA showed minimal car counts in the pit area.  Thirteen Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series super lates signed in and twenty-two 410 Sprint Cars.  This event saw Bryan Bernheisel make his return to Williams Grove Speedway in his #119 Lazer Chassis for the first time since his wreck in in 2022 which saw Bernheisel out of the car for some time. Bernheisel came out with commanding speed as the Lindemuth Laser Etching Fast Time Recipient.

Of the thirteen entrees, the United Late Model Series continued with a full event.  Integra Shocks Qualifying saw heartbreak for the Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Logan Zarin as they broke a rear end ending their night before it started.  Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying saw Bryan Bernheisel take the top spot overall with a 19.852. Justin Weaver claimed Rocket Chassis heat race number one and Matt Sponaugle won Keizer Racing Wheels heat race number two. After the redraw say Tyler Emory and Drake Troutman on the front row, a meeting was held with all thirteen drivers that saw the event be shortened from thirty to twenty laps in efforts to save equipment from the dire temperatures they were competing in.  With that Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series took the green flag for the first time at Williams Grove Speedway since 2022.  The front row saw 2023 Champion Tyler Emory and current LOLMDS regular Drake Troutman, followed by Sponaugle, Weaver, Bernheisel, and Montgomery. The one and only caution of the event came on the first lap which saw race leader Emory, Montgomery, and Sponaugle spin resulting in a complete restart.  From there the field went twenty green flag laps and saw Tyler Emory find Close Racing Supply Victory Lane for the first time in 2024 with the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series. After the checkered was throne, a red flag was thrown as Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver and Chew on This Jerky Rookie of the Year contender Michael Lake’s #27 Longhorn Chassis caught flames at the exit of the speedway.  Williams Grove Speedway EMS and fire team quickly put the flames out and Lake’s car was taken into the pits.  Per the #27 team, a broken fuel line to the carburetor caused the ignition.

The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series thanks everyone that came out in support of the  event in the cold temperatures.  Up next for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series, the tour returns to West Virginia to kick off a huge month of May with topless events at both Ohio Valley Speedway, and Tyler County alongside the notable event memorial day weekend for the “Return of Pennsboro”.  Other stops include Latrobe Speedway and Lernerville Speedway for the “Willie & Conda McConnell Memorial”, which has now become a staple for the series in recent years showing large car counts with 39 entrees last year bringing in both the top regional and some national touring drivers.
