DePizzo Finds Close Racing Supply Victory Lane Winning His First Buckle!

Liberty, OH  resident Vinnie DePizzo took home $1,000.00 for his victory at Lernerville Speedway last Sunday 04.14.2024.  DePizzo started sixth in the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series twenty lap event charging to the lead late in the event beating out Troy Johnson at the line.  Sunday’s “Steel City Stampede” victory would be DePizzo’s first at the not only the speedway, but in UMP Modifieds and Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series action as well!

Weather threatened the reboot of the “Steel City Stampede” once again and after receiving several inches of rain in the previous days leading up to the event, Lernerville Speedway managed to pull off the first event of the year for the speedway and the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series.  The feature events were all that remained from October’s portion of the event when rain came and finally pushed the program to the fourteenth of April.  A small field came back in what was an already set feature lineup. Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series Officials had notified teams in October of 2023 that no additional entries would be permitted in the event.

With a minimal field of cars, the twenty lap main event for the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series was still one to watch.  Littered with cautions on the initial start that would eventually see pole sitter Coleton Longwell retire, drivers such as Al Brewer in his #71 were able to capitalize and move from ninth to third within the first few laps.  The race saw multiple teams retire early on including Coletong Longwell, Ty Rhoades, and Christian Schneider.  Brewer charged his way up to second looking as though to compete with then race leader Troy Johnson before catching a rut in turn 4 and forcing Brewer to back off for the rest of the event coming across the line in third.  DePizzo would continue to gain on Johnson before the pair finally battled side by side for several laps.  DePizzo took the lead and seemed as though he had the event won taking the white flag, as he entered turns one and two his #1 UMP Modified hit the inside berm allowing Troy Johnson a last lap effort to win.  The two raced door to door into turn three and four seeing DePizzo cross the line first over Troy Johnson and Al Brewer.

The Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series thanks everyone that came out in support of the  event with all the rainfall leading up to the reboot and sticking it out as this event has been attempted to be completed and canceled multiple times due to weather conditions.  Up next for the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series, the tour travels to West Virginia to kick off the 2024 points chase at none other than “America’s Baddest Bullring” Tyler County Speedway for a topless $1,500.00 to win / $200.00 to start event.
