Dave Hess Jr  Captures 10th Annual Mike Farr Memorial!

Pittsburgh, PA – Waterford, Pennsylvania’s Dave Hess Jr scored his first Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Presented by M&T Appliances victory of the 2026 season early Sunday night at Eriez Speedway, capturing the $4,100-to-win 10th Annual Mike Farr Memorial.

Hess, came looking to repeat what he’s accomplished leading back to 2024 and redemption from heartbeat with the tour in May. He already won the previous two MIke Farr Memorials, making Sunday night’s victory over Darrell Bossard and Chub Frank three straight and his first win with the tour in 2026 after having one seemingly taken away in May due to mechanical failure ending his run..

The victory marked Hess’s 17th career United Late Model Series triumph, improving him to third all time behind only Gregg Satterlee (21) and Max Blair (43). 

A strong field of 23 entries signed in on a beautiful 80-degree evening in Erie, Pennsylvania, for the makeup of the 10th Annual Mike Farr Memorial, rained out just a week prior. The pit area featured the Elite Drivers of the United Late Model Series, including several Chew On This – Jerky Rookie contenders, and several additional notable competitors such as 2002 United Late Model Series Champion Chub Frank and 2011/2013 Champion Mike Knight.

Knight paced the field in hot laps, but it was Hess who grabbed the top spot in qualifying and the additional $200 that went along with it. With five divisions filling the pit area, the program moved along efficiently as three heat races set the stage for the 41-lap Mike Farr Memorial main event.

Heat Race action saw Hess, Schaffer, and Bossard all cross the flagstand first picking up an additional $100 each courtesy of Close Racing Supply. Redraw had Bossard and Schaffer taking the up the front row,

At the drop of the green, Schaffer quickly jumped to the lead on the outside while Bossard applied pressure on the bottom.  Frank and Genco followed as Hess searched for a better lane. Schaffer continued to lead in clear air, meanwhile Hess began to apply heavy pressure as he began rolling the middle and top picking off cars one by one.  By lap eighteen, Schaffer hit lap traffic… and with it Hess made his move taking a commanding lead.  After a flat tire for the 7J of Bedell, Hess lead the field back to green and never looked back leading from lap 18 through 41 over Darrell Bossard and Chub Frank.
