Bobby Pierce WINS Night One At Pennsboro Over Moran & Hoffman In The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series / XR Super Series Co-Sanctioned Event!
Oakwood, Illinois native Bobby Pierce piloted his #32 Longhorn Chassis to Close Racing Supply Victory Lane in the first night of racing the legendary speedway has seen in over twenty-two years! Its last event was held on May 5, 2002! This win serves as Pierce’s first ever time to victory lane with the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series in their co-sanctioned event with the XR Super Series.
With 27 entries signed in for competition, the Jay’s United Late Model Series / XR Super Series set out for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying that saw Dresden, Ohio’s Devin Moran set quick time in his #99 Longhorn Chassis over the other twenty six entries. Moran and series regular Logan Zarin would lead them to green in Rocket Chassis Heat Race number one. Tyler Carpenter was quick to move around Zarin putting himself in the runner up position. Zarin rode in third while the rest of the field separated. Moran would cross the finish line first over Carpenter and Zarin. Bobby Pierce and Michael Lake led them to green in Keizer Racing Wheels Heat Race number two and they came across the finish that way as well. Nick Hoffman and Zak Kimbrew brought Swift Springs Heat Race number three to green. Hoffman led wire to wire crossing the finish line first over Kimbrew and Benedum. United Construction & Pressure Washing B-Main took the top four in the ten lap shootout! Dylan Lewis led them to green and pushed in turn one allowing Clint Coffman to pass him on the bottom. Ed Shuman came into the position while scheduled to start in the fourth position, Dave Stamm elected to start tail and take his United Late Model Series provisional for the evening. The top four advancing would be Coffman, Lewis, Shuman, and Francis when they crossed the finish line.
Devin Moran and Bobby Pierce would set the front row and lead the field to green in the twenty five lap Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series / XR Super Series main event! Moran maintained the lead coming out of turn one while Pierce and Hoffman battled down the backstretch for the runner up position. Lake followed up in fourth as Carpenter pushed in one, falling back several positions. Laps later the field settled out as Moran led, Lake with a run off two made the pass on Hoffman before pushing in three and tagging the wall. They gathered it together and stayed green. Moran coming into lap traffic early saw the #0 of Ed Shuman slid up the racetrack in front of him, Shuman with help had his door perpendicular to the speedway and the safety caution was thrown. Shuman retired for the night and then Dave Stamm followed under the caution as his left rear tire went flat while pacing. Coming back to green in the XRSS double file restart format, Moran chose the bottom, as they came into turn one Pierce powered around him taking the lead on the outside and never looked back. They battled through lap traffic and with two to go Moran closed the gap as lap cars battled three wide in front of their leaders! Coming to the white flag, Moran made contact with Pierce in turn four and lost ground, battling back with a last ditch effort at the checkered and coming up just short as Pierce crossed the line in exciting fashion at the famed Pennsboro Speedway over Moran, Hoffman, Lake, and Eddie Carrier Jr.
