The Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series made their first visit of the year to Dog Hollow Speedway for the Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial. With threatening weather forecasted the track and series rushed the program thru to beat mother nature as the ULMS feature was completed by 9pm.
Defending ULMS champion and race winner, Max Blair started the night off with the Integra Shocks Fast Time 16.1370 seconds. Blair was also one of the heat winners. The DirtDefender Redraw saw the front four spots being Blair, Shawn Claar, Mike Pegher and Jared Miley for the 30 lap $3000 to win Sheetz McGarvey Memorial.
Blair and Claar brought the field to the green as the field roared into turn one, Pegher would jump to the inside of Blair to make it three wide with Claar coming out on top in the lead as they raced down the backstretch. With the opening lap being completed it was Claar over Blair Pegher, sixth place starter, Matt Lux, eighth place starting Alex Ferree, Mike Wonderling and Miley falling to seventh.
Blair chased after Claar and kept the pressure on the Dog Hollow Speedway regular as Miley had started to work his way back into the top five. Lap 14 would see Blair make a diving slide job in turn three to grab the top spot from Claar immediately feeling the pressure from Pegher. Miley was now up to fourth with Ferree still in fifth.
Pegher and the #1c Cochran Automotive owned Lynn Geisler machine moved into second with nine to go as he looked to track down Blair in the #111 Rocket XR1. Miley would begin applying pressure to Claar and would eventually grab third with seven to go and go hunting after Pegher and Blair.
Blair would enter lap traffic with five to go and this allowed Pegher and Miley to close in for a possible late race battle. Pegher made a attempt on the final two corners but was unable to get alongside Blair as the #111 machine grabbed his second ULMS win of 2019 and back to back Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial wins. Pegher would come home second in his best ULMS finish in several years. Miley charged back from his early race slip to third with Claar and Ferree rounding out the top five.
The Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series will be back in action when the ULMS Speedweek Hell Tour begins on Sunday June 30 at Old Bradford Speedway in Rew, PA. The six races in eight days will have a separate point fund for those events. Other Hell Tour dates are Wednesday and Thursday July 3rd and 4th at Dog Hollow Speedway, Friday July 5th at Freedom Motorsports Park for the USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial, Saturday July 6 at Stateline Speedway and concludes Sunday July 7 at Eriez Speedway for the Dick Litz Memorial.
Mike Spinneweber of Butler PA won the Super 6 Late Model Series event. Spinneweber started on the outside pole and was chased majority of the race by his son Levi and Frank McFeaters. Numerous cautions kept the field tight for most of the event and on a lap 10 restart Levi got into his father turning the race leader into the front stretch wall. Levi Spinneweber would go to the tail and series and track officials returned the elder Spinneweber to the front of the field.
Mike Spinneweber would lead the final five circuits over McFeaters as Curtis Stivason was within striking distance. At the finish it was Spinneweber over McFeaters, Stivason, Mike Anderson and Levi Spinneweber recovering for fifth.
