Self WINS at Hummingbird with the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series!

Statesville, NC resident Austin Self made his debut with the Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series Saturday night, July 27th, 2024 at Hummingbird Speedway. A field of 19 Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series entrants signed in to race at the Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania dirt oval alongside the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series for the “Grady’s Decision Night”.

Two sessions of hot laps would take place for the tour before going back out for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying (LLE). Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Ty Rhoades would take the top spot in qualifying in his #12r TR2 Racing Elite Chassis. Two United Construction & Pressure Washing Heat Races would be set to follow. Self would take the win in heat one. Wyatt Scott picked up the win in heat race number two in his #3 Afflixtion Chassis.

A lengthy intermission in honor of “Grady’s” would commence before the main events. A “Pie to the Face” bidding war would kick it off as racers and fans alike could bid on pieing United Late Model & E-Mod Series CEO Trevor Zuver in the face as well as Garage Crawl and Hummingbird Speedway promoter John McConnell. In addition, the track owner Peach Caltagarone and Hummingbirds own lineup official Kristy Conner would partake in an arm wrestling match at the flagstand to see who was the strongest. All proceeds went to the non-profit organization “Grady’s Decision”. Finally, a helmet pass was conducted by the drivers of both the United Late Model & E-Mod Series for longtime supporter and multi-time champion of the United Late Model Series, “Terry Suppa”. One thousand and fifty three dollars was raised for Suppa via the helmet pass to help aid medical costs as he battles ongoing medical issues.

The 20 lap, $1,200.00 to win Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series main event would finally take the green after running fifth in the program. Self and Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Mason Lobb would lead the field to the green. A lap four yellow would be all the event would see as the #0 of Dennis Asel, #T2 of Greg Hauger, #9e of Mike Eschrich, and #X1 of Mark Bell came together in turn four. The #9e and the Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver of Ty Rhoades in his #12r would retire early on. Hauger on lap eleven would call it a night as well, pulling into the infield. It was all Austin Self from the drop of the green to the checkered on lap 20 however. Self would claim his first Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series victory and land in Close Racing Supply Victory Lane.

The Elite Motorsports United E-Mod Series thank’s everyone that came out in support of Saturday’s event and hopes to see everyone back at Tyler County Speedway, Saturday, August 10, 2024 for the “Topless 30” paying $1,500.00 to win and coinciding with the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series “Topless 50”.
