Ferree Returns to Close Racing Supply Victory Lane with the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series clinching the “Dave Kittey Memorial”!

Saxonburg, PA resident Alex Ferree captured his first Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series victory of the year Saturday night at Latrobe Speedway Park for the “Dave Kittey Memorial””. Paying $5,000.00 to win, it was one of the richest paying super late model events the speedway has seen to date and Ferree came back with a vengeance from 2023 as a late flat tire would retire him from the race lead then.

With 17 entries, the Jay’s United Late Model Series set out for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying which saw Dan Angelicchio set the fast time. Alex Ferree would claim Rocket Chassis heat race number one and Gregg Satterlee won Keizer Racing Wheels heat race number two. Three Rivers Karting & Entertainment Park redraw put Saxonburg, PA’s Alex Ferree and Pittsburgh, PA’s Jared Miley on the front row.

After an intermission for track prep, the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series took the green flag for the thirty lap “Dave Kittey Memorial” main event. A night littered with yellows saw the tours longest timed race of the 2024 season. A lap one caution in turn one turned red as several teams were collected blocking the speedway. Lined back up, four more yellows would come out due to flat tires for drivers including the 48 of Flinner, 24 of Rohacevich, and 22 of Gregg Satterlee. Satterlee was one fighting for the lead before his right rear let go in the top of two ending his night with just four laps to go. With that, the series went single file per their procedure’s of five laps or less in features restarts will be single file. Ferree would lead them to the green in the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series and cross the finish first.

A weekend of tragedy struck the series and racing community while honoring a fellow contributor to the regional dirt racing scene “Dave Kittey”. Friday night for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series “Night of Power ” at Path Valley Speedway, the 2023 Champion Tyler Emory would bring his season to an early end after succumbing to a back injury. We hope that Tyler can return back to the racecar soon! Multi-time United Late Model Series Champion, car-owner Terry Suppa is in all our thoughts and prayers as he undergoes rigorous treatments for a current medical condition he is battling. Suppa, currently helps house and run the #4s/12m team of Ryan Montgomery Racing with other car owner Jeff Montgomery.

The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series thanks everyone that came out in support of the “Dave Kittey Memorial” and the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series as they returned to Latrobe Saturday in honor of Dave.
