Lake Wins “U.S.M.C. Jason Dunham Memorial”.
Uniontown, PA resident Michael Lake captured his second ever Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series victory worth $4,000.00 last night at the Rew, Pennsylvania bullring Bradford Speedway in the honorable “U.S.M.C Jason Dunham Memorial” landing himself in Close Racing Supply Victory Lane.
Pop up showers throughout the program led to Series Director Trevor Zuver to pushing the show through swiftly for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series, from the drop of the first green in hot laps to the final checkered for the “U.S.M.C Jason Dunham Memorial”, the program ran just around two full hours!
With 17 entries, the Jay’s United Late Model Series set on for Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying saw Andy Boozel set a blistering fast time overall at 15.109 over the rest of the field.. Andy Boozel would go on to lead wire to wire and win Rocket Chassis heat race number one, Doug Eck won Keizer Racing Wheels heat race number two. Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Michael Lake won Swift Springs heat race number three. Three Rivers Karting & Entertainment Park redraw left Fairmont, West Virginia’s Ryan Montgomery and Uniontown, Pennsylvania’s Michael Lake on the front row. The top three would all be Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Drivers to start the night.
After a swift intermission, the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series took the green flag for the “U.S.M.C. Jason Dunham Memorial” at approximately 9:00PM. A multi-car incident in turn one to start the race would have the field reset and try again. Following a lap 2, 3, and 3 caution again would then have Series Director Trevor Zuver put the field to single file to restart on lap 4. Montgomery led them into the Jay’s Automotive Start Zone in turn 3 and four and would lead several more laps before Michael Lake could sneak by for the race lead. Montgomery stated carburetor issues led to a stumble in the car for the main event. From the lap 4 restart, they would finish the 26 laps green to checkered and see the the current Chew On This – Jerky RoY and Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series Points leader Michael Lake cross the finish line first! For the second year in row, the podium would be full of Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Drivers as well.
The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series thanks everyone that came out in support of the “U.S.M.C Jason Dunham Memorial” and stuck out the continuous possibility of showers throughout the night. The track prep team at Bradford Speedway put together an excellent surface for the teams to navigate around the tight pencil clip bullring with teams racing from the top to the bottom. Next up for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series is McKean County Raceway today Friday, 07.05.2024 in Smethport, Pennsylvania and then Sunday at Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pennsylvania for the “Mike Farr Memorial”.
