Carpenter Picks Up Third Straight Topless 50 Win at Ohio Valley Speedway.

Parkersburg, WV resident Tyler Carpenter captured his second Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series victory worth $5,000.00 at Ohio Valley Speedway in the annual Topless 50 landing him in Close Racing Supply Victory Lane.

 

Pop up showers throughout the program meant for several rain delays before the show could finally be completed.  Still 33 super late models signed in for the Topless 50 event.  A season high for the tour after having events in March at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway.

 

Of the 33 entries, the United Late Model Series continued with a full event ending early Saturday morning.  Lindemuth Laser Etching Qualifying saw Colton Burdette set fast time overall at  15.364.  Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Ryan Montgomery set fast time in Group A at 15.699. Ryan Montgomery claimed Rocket Chassis heat race number one, Seth Daniels won Keizer Racing Wheels heat race number two.  Dennis James won Swift Springs heat race number three and Tyler Carpenter claimed Beyea Headers heat race number four.  Three Rivers Karting & Entertainment Park redraw left Jackson, Ohio’s Seth Daniels and Fairmont, West Virginia’s Ryan Montgomery on the front row.  Two United Construction & Pressure Washing B-Mains completed the field for the night, taking three out of each, Zach Hill won B-Main number one and Jacob Hawkins crossed the line first in B-Main number two.

 

After another short rain delay, the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series took the green flag for the Topless 50!  Heartbreak on the initial start for the initial pole sitter Seth Daniels as he entered turn one and lost the left rear wheel to his race car ending his night before it began.  With that the field completed a complete restart with Lindemuth Laser Etching Elite Driver Ryan Montgomery now sitting in the top spot.  Early on the top four pressured each other, Carpenter piloting his #28 Kryptonite out front and seeing newcomer James Dennis stay in the top three till a lap 28 caution for the #56 of Dylan Fenton saw the third place running James exit the speedway due to overheating issues.  Lap 38 caught several teams up in a caution in turn one and two as Emory spun collecting those with nowhere to go.  The one and only red flag came one lap later as the 16 of Tonkin and 44 of Lewis made heavy contact with the frontstretch wall directly below the flagstand.  Both drivers exited their cars and were unharmed.  Race control decided to line the cars up single file for the rest of the event which went green to checkered seeing Tyler Carpenter pick up the win over the hard charging Colton Burdette, followed by Ryan Montgomery, Michael Lake and Todd Brennan.

 

The Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series thanks everyone that came out in support of the  event and stuck out the continuous showers throughout the night.  The track prep team at Ohio Valley Speedway worked tirelessly to keep the speedway in raceable shape for everyone.  Next up for the Jay’s Automotive United Late Model Series is the “Willie & Conda McConnell Memorial” this coming Friday, 05.10.2024 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA. This event has now become a staple for the series in recent years showing large car counts with 39 entrees last year bringing in both the top regional and some national touring drivers.  The following day the series travels east to Latrobe Speedway in Latrobe, PA for the “Dave Kittey Memorial”. Saturday’s rained out event at Tyler County Speedway has been rescheduled for Sunday May, 26, 2024.
