The Zimmer Service Centers ULMS Late Model Series kicked off the 20th Anniversary Season, Friday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Knoxdale, PA. A stacked field of 35 entries were on hand for both the track and series opening events for 2020.
The stacked field of 24 cars made for a great show for everyone in attendance. Doug Drown and Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Chub Frank in the 1* machine were on the front row to start the 30 lap main event. Drown got the jump on the start from Frank. Lap three would see Mike Pegher Jr take over third from Andrew Wylie in the 84. Colton Flinner joined the mix on lap five until defending two-time series champion Max Blair in the 111 challenged Colton Flinner for fifth. Blair would move into fifth as Boom Briggs in the Jake Finnerty1J machine moved into sixth over Flinner. Lap 13, the yellow flag came out for Colton Flinner in turn four.
On the restart, Mike Pegher moved into second over Chub as Blair moved into fourth., Matt Lux in the 111L moved into eighth over Doug Eck in the 20. Another caution would come out for Jared Miley in turn two on lap 18. The second restart was Max Blair’s move, as he moved into third over Chub Frank. Frank and Michael Lake in the 27 would battle for fifth before Frank moved into the fourth spot. With the checkers in the air, Doug Drown would go on to win the feature event and picking up his second career Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series win.
The Zinmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series will return to action this Sunday June 21 at Bradford Speedway. This event added to the schedule three weeks ago should see a good quality field of cars on hand for the 30 lap $2500 to win event that will see 10th place pay $500 and $250 to start.
