Max Blair of Centerville, PA found victory lane for the 8th time on the 2018 Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series tour. Blair started fourth on the vent had to work his way pass Boom Briggs and take the top spot from Chub Frank to go on for his record setting 8th series win at Genesee Speedway in Batavia NY.
Mike Wonderling Jr and Chub Frank paced the 18 car field to legendary flagman, John Powell’s green flag. Frank would power by Wonderling down the back stretch to grab the lead until Wyatt Scott would get sideways in turn four on lap 2 resulting in several cars getting involved and ending the evening for Chris Hackett and Danny Kienitz.
The restart saw Chub power ahead with Briggs in second followed by Blair. Around lap ten, Bryce Davis started to make his presence known and he worked by Blair and Briggs and set chase after the former World of Outlaw star, Frank. Davis would sweep on the outside several laps on Frank in the 99* Club29 machine. Chub kept his car a car length ahead lap after lap as Davis kept trying the high side. Lap 18 would see Davis jump to the inside of Chub going into turn 1 and Frank shut the door. At this moment Davis night would come to an end as he blew a brake line and would slow bringing out the caution.
Chub would refire again with Boom and Blair now on his rear bumper. Max would get around Briggs for the runner up spot and start chase after the dirt late model Hall of Famer, Frank. Blair would work on the outside of Chub for a few laps before making is move out of turn two and sweep pass Frank into the lead and then pull away easily over the Club29 cars of Frank and Briggs to pick up his 8th ULMS win of the 2018 season. Mike Wonderling Jr. came home fourth with his best performance of the year, with Mike Maresca, Greg Oakes, Bob Dorman, Doug Eck, Dave Dubois, and Andy Boozel rounding out the top ten.
