Over a month ago, the ULMS Racing Series announced that beginning in 2019 season they would be adding a 4 cylinder program to its program which includes the ULMS Late Models and and UEMS Emod Series. Last night its first event got put together for the 2018 “pilot” season. The McKean County Fair Board voted unanimously to have the 4 cylinder portion of the annual Fair Race under the U4CS sanctioning. The lap main event is paying $500 to win, $100 for tenth and $50 to start. The new U4CS series governed by the ULMS Racing Series will be joining the RUSH Touring Late Models that evening for the two classes of the fair.
“I am very happy to have the fairboard agree without any hesitation on allowing us to move forward with this program. We needed a show this year to show the tracks what the new concept is about as we build this program going into the 2019 race season, stated ULMS owner and promoter, Chris Zuver.” Zuver continued “I operated McKean County Raceway since 2013 and noticed that one of the strongest car counts and most exciting events were the 4 cylinder division. This past December when Mandy and I went to PRI, we were talking to Kelley Carlton and he told us about his mini stock deal (SCDRA) and it perked our interest. We are not looking to have a big series for the division as we realize the racers that will be supporting it are all low budget racers and we are just providing extra money events every now and then that they deserve and additional point fund at year’s end. The key is making sure that the weekly tracks are very well supported. A healthy 4 cylinder class at your hometown track will only ensure the series to be prosperous, and showing the fans that the 4 cylinder class is more than bathroom break time, there are some very good racing in this division” stated Zuver.
The McKean County Fair begins Sunday August 12 and ends Saturday August 18 at the McKean County Fairgrounds in East Smethport PA. The races will be Thursday night, August 16 and begin at 7:30pm. Fair costs are $8 for adults at the gate to enter the fair, $2 for children (3 feet and under), while the grandstand cost for the races will be an additional $8 for adults and $2 for children under the age of 10, the pit passes will be $20. There will be a $10 entry fee for the U4CS Series upon registering your car and pulling your starting position.
The ULMS Racing Series is currently talking to two additional tracks in regards to possible 2018 pilot program events before scheduling the 2019 season.
