Mother nature wins again on the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series Tour. For the second weekend in a row, Tri City Raceway Park’s “Mudslinger” event has been postponed by the weather and wet grounds. The event will now be Sunday, April 29th concluding the 3 day ULMS “Keystone State Shootout Weekend” with Thunder Mountain and Port Royal ULMS events preceding the Mudslinger.
“It has been a tough year for any track opening up early as mother nature has just been a bad race fan with the cold temperatures and now with the April rain showers,” stated ULMS Series owner, Chris Zuver. “We lost Port Royal last month when that got a foot of snow three days before the “Chiller Thriller” and now Tri City just cant get a break with the cold and now rain. It does sets us up for a season opening three day weekend beginning at Thunder Mountain, Port Royal and now Tri City.”
The new season opening event will be Friday, April 27 at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Brookville, PA. The 30 lap main event will pay $3000 to win and $300 to start. This will also Thunder Mountain’s season opener and a great field of cars are expected to be on hand. “Rob Leonard has done a tremendous job at Thunder Mountain and our ULMS events have always had very good car counts on his smooth raceable surface, stated Zuver.”
The very next day, Saturday, April 28 will see ULMS head to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA for the “Chiller Thriller” makeup event from March 24th. The event will be 30 laps and pay $3000 to win and $300 to start. This will be the first ever visit to Port Royal for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series. A very good field of cars are expected on hand with the local contingent of Coleby Frye, Dylan Yoder, Nick Dickson expected to fend off the Close Racing Supply ULMS Elite teams.
The Keystone State Shootout Weekend concludes on Sunday with the fifth edition of the “Mudslinger” at Tri City Raceway Park in Franklin, PA. The 25 lap main event will pay $2000 to win and $225 to start at the half mile oval. Past ULMS winners at Tri City have been Boom Briggs, Mike Knight, Rob Blair and Jared Miley.
All three events will feature ULMS race procedures, which include ULMS hot lap group qualifying. Race teams will need AMB transponders for all three nights of the Keystone State Shootout and rentals will be available at all three tracks. Entry fees will be $30 at Thunder Mountain and Port Royal, while Tri City’s entry fee will be $25.
