The Zimmer’s Service Center UEMS Emod Series will get back into action on Thursday, May 26th at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, PA. The Zimmer’s Service Center UEMS Series will be featured in the 2nd annual Rayce & Zoiee Zuver Memorial that will feature a pair of 20 lap main events for the UEMS Emod racers.
Dan Davies of Warren, Pennsylvania won the Rayce and Zoiee Zuver Memorial last October at MCR. The event is held in memory of series owner and MCR promoter Chris Zuver’s twin babies that were born still born last May. “Last year’s event paid $1200 with about $400 in lap money and during the off season I wanted to make this event a little more special and unique, stated Zuver.” With the loss of the twins, I decided I would try to host a pair of “T win” 20 feature events for the UEMS Emods. We have had an outpouring of support in lap sponsors as well from so many friends and contacts I have met over the years. Lap sponsors have come as far away as California, Arizona, Georgia and South Carolina, it has been truly humbling, stated Zuver.”
David Scott of Garland, PA is the current point leader in the UEMS Emod 2016 series with his season opening win at Mercer Raceway Park in March. Scott has been one of the hottest drivers so far this young season with additional wins at MCR, Stateline and Eriez Speedway season openers. He no doubt will be a favorite to sweep the twin 20 format. Rich Michael Jr of Ischua, NY sits second in points will no doubt be one of the favorites in his familiar 17x machine. Other notable UEMS stars expected to be on hand are Guys Mills, PA driver, Mike Potosky who is coming off a win at Ohio’s Raceway 7, Davies, former 2012 UEMS Series champion Carl McKinney of Cranberry Township, PA, young Jacob Eucker of Fowler Ohio, 2011 series champion, Joel Watson who has 3 wins on the season already in 2016 and East Springfield, Pennsylvania driver, Ken Zimmer.
Those drivers will have to figure out how to top the MCR point leader, Greg Johnson of Jamestown, NY, 2014 MCR champion, Vic Vena, Kirk Bradley, Darren Tarabori, John Woodward, Butch Southwell , Darren Tarabori and Al Brewer who is competing in his 45th year of action in his familiar #71 machine. A very good quality field of Emods are expected on hand for the unique format that could see someone walk away with over $1500 in total first place prize money.
Normal ULMS Racing Series format will be in place for the Rayce & Zoiee Zuver Memorial with the race teams pulling their heat race starting spots at registration with the top heat qualifiers redrawing for the top starting spots in the first Twin 20 feature event as in any UEMS Emod Series event. The second Twin 20 feature will see the top 10 finishers from the first feature event being inverted and finishing cars 11th thru 24th in the first event starting as they finished in the second feature. Cars not able to run the second Twin 20 event will be replaced by the alternate cars based on the final finishing positions of the consolation event of the non qualifiers (if needed).
