Memorial Day weekend is on us and it’s the first summer holiday of racing season. It also marks a busy 4 day weekend for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series. Events at McKean County Raceway, Freedom Motorsports Park, Stateline Speedway and Eriez Speedway.

The weekend kicks off at McKean County Raceway where the program picks up where it left off last Thursday night’s track opener with feature only format along with newly added $2000 to win King of the Hill. There is potential of someone going home with $5000 on Thursday at MCR.

The feature lineup is set except for any new entries that do show up, will tag the end of the feature lineup. If more than 24 cars are on hand there will be a bmain to determine the feature lineup for the new entries. Currently, David Scott is the pole sitter due to his Jay’s Auto Wrecking Pole Scramble win last Thursday. The front row consists of Slowride and Dave Hess Jr. The 30 lap main event will pay $3000 to win followed by a $2000 to win ULMS King of the Hill that was added. Also its FREE ADMISSION to everyone in the grandstands and all pit passes are free with your wristband from last Thursday.

On Friday, the series makes its first visit to Freedom Motorsports Park since 2019 as the track sat idle in 2020 due to New York state covid 19 restrictions. The annual USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial will be held. A solid field of cars are expected to be on hand for the event paying $3000 to win. Past ULMS winners at Freedom have been Max Blair, Chub Frank, David Scott, Dave Hess and Boom Briggs.

On Saturday, the series rolls into Busti, NY for the first time since 2015. The series last two visits have been postponed due to weather and last year with the New York state covid 19 restrictions. The 30 lap main event will see Stateline Speedway’s hot shoe, Dave Hess Jr. looking to defend his home turf over ULMS three time defending series champion, Max Blair. Stateline will be supported by Hess along with last year’s ULMS “Chew on this Jerky Rookie of Year” Wyatt Scott, Bump Hedman, Darrell Bossard along with other weekly warriors. Joining Blair will be 2021 ULMS Rookie of Year drivers, Ryan Scott, who has plenty of laps around the Busti, NY oval and teenager, Deshawn Gingerich who grabbed his first career ULMS top five finish on Sunday at Tri City along with Tri City winner and second in ULMS North points and 2015 series champion Jared Miley.

The series visits, Eriez Speedway on Sunday for the annual Dick Litz Memorial. The race in honor of one of Eriez Speedway’s top racers in track history is held each year. Past ULMS winners of this event have been Jared Miley and Max Blair. Chub Frank found victory last year also with ULMS at Eriez in a different event. Hess along with former three time series champion, Mike Knight have been the top cars weekly at Eriez Speedway along with Frank, Steve Kania, Bossard, and Hedman.
