The 2021 season for the Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series is less than two weeks away for its #ULMSmilliondollartour season, that will see a record 53 event schedule in place for the dirt late model series. The season kicks off with a huge 3-day weekend in central Pennsylvania, where the legendary Williams Grove Speedway will host the ULMS Late Models for the second time ever on Friday March 19th followed by two events at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday and Sunday March 20th and 21st, with the first two events paying $3,000 to win and the final event of the weekend paying $4000 to win. The weekend will kick off the ULMS South Region Tour of 22 events on the 2020 schedule that will pay the south region champion $7,500!
Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA will host the 2021 season opener for the ULMS Late Models on Friday, March 19th. Last years event was lost due to the Covid19 Pandemic. 2019 saw Rick Eckert capture one of his two 2019 ULMS wins by holding off a very fast Jason Covert. Joining the ULMS Late Models will be the 410 sprint cars.
The series will then head north to Port Royal Speedway and visit the Speed Palace for two consecutive days of action. Saturday March 20st will see the ULMS Late Model Series go 30 laps for $3,000 to the winner. This will be the ninth ULMS event held at Port Royal with Jason Covert winning the two spring ULMS openers in 2018 and 2019 along with single wins by Tyler Bare, Michael Norris, Mason Zeigler, Gregg Satterlee and ULMS three time defending champion, Max Blair winning events at Port Royal the past three years. Port Royal Speedway’s past ULMS events have generated car counts of normally 40 plus cars on hand for competition. Joining the ULMS Late Models on the Saturday portion will be the 410 sprint cars and the Limited Late Models.
Sunday, March 21st will be the final day of the 3-day Central Pennsylvania Kickoff Weekend and the 2nd day of action at Port Royal Speedway. The final event of the three day weekend will see $4,000 to win event will be on tap for the ULMS Late Models and they will be joined by the Short Track Super Series Big Block Modifieds.
The Zimmer Service Center United Late Model Series committed racers for the south region tour are all time ULMS feature winner and champion, Max Blair along with Bryan Bernheisel plus the Chew on This Jerky Rookie of Year contenders Deshawn Gingerich, Shaun Jones and Dave Stamm. Blair and Gingerich have put their hat into following the entire 53 event schedule and go for the possible $25,000 ULMS Late Model Series National Championship crown if either driver can sweep both regions! Other expected entries on hand for the weekend are Kyle Knapp, Andy Haus, Dylan Yoder along with his father Jim, Gregg Satterlee, Ross Robinson, Kyle Lee, Jeff Rine, Michael Norris, Jason Covert, Matt Lux, Colton Flinner, Gary Stuhler, Trevor Feathers, Mike Lupfer, Gene Knaub, Jared Miley, Matt Cosner and many more are expected to be on hand for the entire weekend.
ULMS Racing Series procedures will be in place for all 3 events, which includes hot laps, time trials, 8 lap minimum qualifying heat events, consolation events and 30 lap main event with the Sunday finale being 35 laps. Time Trials per ULMS rules will be the following: 3 heats will be straight up; 4 heats will result in A&B group qualifying. New for 2021, if there are 4 heats or less, the top 2 heat finishers will enter the Jays Auto Wrecking Scramble to determine the top starting spots in the feature event. The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Scramble replaces the feature redraw. If there are more than, heat winner only will redraw (5 or 6 heats). The ULMS Late Model Series tire rule is Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder on all 4 corners. Also new for 2021 is the leader or pole sitter will start the event anywhere inside the starting box.
All late model teams must present their cars along with safety equipment (helmet and Hans device) at pre-race safety and car inspection. Once your car has been inspected you will not need to present your safety equipment again, unless you enter a different car during the weekend. Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal Speedway utilizes the AMB/MyLaps transponders for scoring and timing. Limited transponder rentals are available at both facilities. Raceivers are mandatory and frequency for both tracks are 454.000.
Gates open Friday night at Williams Grove at 5:30pm. Adult grandstand admission is $29 with youth price being $10. ULMS tech opens at 5:30pm and closes at 6:30pm. No cars will be allowed on the track before completing tech. ULMS Driver meeting will be at 6:30pm at the ULMS Command Center, then ULMS hot laps at approximately 7pm.
ULMS Integra Shocks qualifying time trials will be 3 or 4 cars at a time. The nights activities will be streamed by Dirtvision for those who are not able to attend.
Saturday gates open at 1:00pm at Port Royal Speedway. Grandstand adult admission is $20, Student admission is $10 and all pit passes being $30. ULMS tech opens at 1:00pm and closes at 2:30pm. Driver Meeting will be at 2:30pm, hot laps beginning at 3:00pm, followed by ULMS qualifying (3 at a time) and qualifying heat races beginning at 4:00pm.
The Sunday, March 21st program at Port Royal Speedway will see the gates opening at 11:00am, which is also start of ULMS pre-race tech, which closes same time as the driver meeting at 12:30pm. Hot Laps begin at 1:00pm, followed by ULMS time trial qualifying, and heat races beginning at 2:00pm. ULMS Entry Fee will be $50 per event during the weekend. If you are not able to attend, both Port Royal Speedway events will streamed by FloRacing per track streaming contract.
