After time trials led by Cross Lanes, WV’s Tim Dohm, four eight-lap heats and a ‘B’ Main set the field for the ‘A’ mail with Jared Hawkins leading after lap one with Eddie Carrier and Jared Miley fighting over second with Tim Dohm fourth. Six laps into the event Carrier took over at the front of the pack when the leaders began lapping the field. Heading into turn three on lap ten Jared Miley lost grip on his racer, looping the car and bringing out the first caution period of the event. At green third-running Tim Dohm launched out of turn two and was leading the affair by the time the field reached turn three. Carrier and Hawkins trailed the leader battling for the runner-up spot. Yellow again flew for the stalled car of Dusty Hamrick at lap thirteen. Five laps prior to halfway Hawkins got by Carrier but could not reel in Dohm, who was driving a flawless event, seemingly on rails around the bullring. When the crossed flags indicating halfway were shown at twenty laps the top five were Dohm, Hawkins, Carrier, Kyle Thomas, and Mike Benedum. Twelfth-starting Greg Oakes had advanced all the way to sixth. Just as halfway was shown, the car of Charles Powell Jr came to a halt on the front straight, again throwing the field under caution. The race ran under green over the remaining distance with Dohm getting his first ULMS win of the season over Hawkins, Carrier, Benedum, and Thomas. Oakes charge forward stopped at sixth with Miley coming back to seventh after restarting at the rear one-quarter of the way into the finale. The “Hard-Charger” was John Volpe, who gained eight positions despite a “skipping” engine.
Qualifying heats were won by Dohm, Rick Williams, Hawkins, and Carrier. Sonny Conley won the “B” main with Michael Oakes and Bobby Rohrer getting the ULMS provisionals.
Next on the ULMS schedule will be a trip to Mercer Raceway Park June 18 for a $3000 to win feature followed with a trip to Eriez Speedway for the $2900 to win Dick Litz Memorial the following night.
