The Close Racing Supply ULMS Elite Driver Program increased to seven race teams with the addition of Ceres, NY driver, Jason Dobson in his #75 CJ Rayburn Chassis. Dobson is entering his third full time season in super late model competition after many years running street stocks and pure stock division. The 2018 season will mark Dobson’s 25th season behind the wheel.
Dobson has back to back track championships at the former Allegany Mountain Speedway in Kane PA in 2009 and 2010. He also was the track champion at Bradford Speedway in 2006 and 2010. His first ever win came at Perry Speedway in Perry, NY in 1996. Dobson’s CJ Rayburn Chassis is sponsored by BoDobbies Auto Parts and Body in Ceres, NY.
Dobson joins defending series two time champion, Dave Hess Jr., Doug Eck, who will be driving for the team Hess drove for the past two years under the championship team of Suppa Racing, Breyton Santee, John Weaver, Al Brewer, Max Blair and Mike Wonderling. The list of names are expected to grow throughout the next few weeks leading up to the series opener at Port Royal on March 24 for the $3000 to win Chiller Thriller.
ELITE contracted drivers must be in the top 10 in points to receive guaranteed contract monies and will be awarded to the top 8 point cars that are in the top 10 in points. The series provisional positions will be based off the top contracted driver in points that do not qualify.
Series, owner and race director, Chris Zuver stated his excitement with the program. “I am very excited to see the drivers who will be running with the ULMS series for 2018. The series has currently 15 events on its 2018 schedule with more events still being discussed. This is the third year for the program and second year Close Racing Supply has been the marketing partner for the program. We expect several other drivers to join the program also.
The Zimmer’s Service Center Inc ULMS Late Model Series has a 15 event schedule in the northeast region for the 2018 season with a $5000 to win championship point fund. With the marketing partnership of Close Racing Supply providing the funding for the Elite program, this additional money paid out will be money that the tracks will not have to worry about and can use as a marketing tool to market the series and drivers to the general public that will be in attendance.
