We are proud to welcome back Close Racing Supply of Eldred, PA on board as one of the Zimmer’s Service Center Inc ULMS Late Model Series major sponsors for the 2017 season. The Close Racing Supply “Elite Racers” Program for the ULMS Late Model teams is designed to keep the faithful followers of the series with additional monetary rewards throughout the season to help offset some of the traveling expenses incurred.

The concept of the program is the same as it was last year with rewarding contracted race teams with the series a guaranteed $400 in start money for each ULMS Series event. Dave Hess Jr., John Volpe, Greg Oakes, Charlie Powell, Bobby Rohrer and Breyton Santee will be the six Close Racing Supply ELITE ULMS teams coming over from last year for the season opener at Mercer Raceway Park on April 15.

Those “Elite 6” drivers will be guaranteed a minimum $400 total per race winnings at Mercer. All other teams that sign up will start collecting guaranteed contract monies with the second event on the 2017 schedule at Thunder Mountain Raceway on April 28. Guaranteed contract monies will be awarded to the top 8 point cars (under contract) that are in the top 10 in points. The series provisional position will be based off the top contracted driver in points that do not qualify.

Series, owner, Chris Zuver stated, “I was very excited for this program last year and it seemed to work well for both the series and the drivers throughout the year and it guaranteed the host tracks that they were going to see these drivers at their ULMS event.” “Race fans want to go to tracks and see the stars, and ULMS can provide the names for the fans, they know who follows the series, just like the national tours.”

The Zimmer’s Service Center Inc ULMS Late Model Series has a 16 event schedule in the northeast region for the 2017 season competing with plans of a minimum $4000 championship point fund. With the marketing partnership of Close Racing Supply providing the funding, this additional monies paid out will be money that the tracks will not have to worry about and can be used as a marketing tool to market the series and drivers to the general public that will be in attendance.

The 2017 Zimmer’s Service Center Inc ULMS Late Model Series will again use hot lap qualifying during their events. For event venues where Time Trial equipment is not available, the series will use the PASSING POINT system with full ULMS series race format rules. Also, ULMS Late Models will again incorporate the tire rule of Hoosier 1300 or American Racer 44 or harder rule.
